Can you take good photos with normal digi camera, without Digital SLR?

I have a semi Casio QV-5700 digi SLR. I've been using this camera for about 4 years. Photography is my hobby and passion. Although, Casio is not categorized in those high ranking reknown brand like Nikon, Pentax, Leica, etc I find this camera reliable esp. taking staged, still life photos, though its quite hard taking photos low light exposure photos.

The thought of upgrading my digi camera crossed my mind. Let's just say, most of my friends and colleagues own a digital SLR, the big bulky ones. Some of them take great photos, especially with the cool depth of field function, which I find it useful for event photography where you need to quickly capture the subject.

Should I, or should I not switch to the new dslr? What is the reliable, not so expensive DSLR out there? I'm hoping to find a versatile DSLR that can take good low exposure photos and works well in all weather condition. Here are some of the preview of my works. http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/roze_immun e/album?.dir=c186

Nikon is a good, inexpensive choice. All due respect to the first poster, but I don't know why he thinks Nikon's are pricier than Canon. Nikon has the D40, a 6.1 MP DSLR, with an 18-55 DX ED lens, for $599. The least expensive Canon on the market is the XT (if you can still find it) for $699. The XTi is $899, and both come with a sub-par 18-55. The D80 blows away the XTi, and is in the same price range.
The Nikon D200 is a powerhouse camera at $1499, and Canon has nothing in that price range that can even compete. While the Canon 5D is a better camera than the Nikon D200, it costs twice as much (or more)

If you want to start light, the D40 is your best choice. You don't have as many controls as a D80 or XTi, but it's a great introductory camera. And any accessories you buy for it (lens, flashes) can be used on future Nikon DSLRs.

Now, Canon is a fine company, and they make fine equipment. but they force you to buy their 18-55 clunker lens as part of the XT & XTi packages. To get a comparable lens to the D40's 18-55 ED, you need to spend about $250 more, minimum. That means the XTi runs about $1150, compared to the D80 w/ 18-55 for $1100.

Until you hit the really high end equipment, Nikon is the better choice. And 6 MP is plenty, FYI. You can print excellent 20"x30" prints, with no detail loss, from a 6MP DSLR sensor. 8 MP is nice, but not a 'have-to-have'. Heck, if anyone out there really, really thinks that megapixels are that important, I will trade, today, a brand new 8 megapixel camera for a used (but operational and normally functioning) 4 megapixel camera, so long as I get to pick the 4 megapixel camera in question. Why? Because I'd rather have a Nikon D2HS than a Kodak P880. Go ahead and do a search, and see what I mean.

Why is that 4.1 MP Nikon so much more expensive? First off, the sensor is much higher quality. It's also physically larger (about 8 times larger) than the average point & shoot digital camera. And the overall print quality is much, MUCH higher as well.

Now, more megapixels would allow you to get a larger print, but the quality wouldn't improve unless the sensor quality also improved.

Don't buy a camera based on the megapixels (i.e., volume). You don't buy bottled water based on the volume, you buy it based on the quality. If bottled sewage water was buy 1, get 4 free, would you buy that over the mountain spring water that was the same price, but had no special sale?

I would stick to a DSLR under $800, for now. Go to your local Ritz/Wolf Camera store, and try out the Nikon D40 and Canon XTi. Pick which one ‘feels’ best in your hands, because the end results will be the same. Photographic skill is much more important than the camera model you’re using. You just need to feel comfortable and confident in your equipment.

Bitter sweet memories lost among a crowd of familiar faces?

I need help, although that's a given or else I wouldn't be here. I'm planning on creating a digital photo album , like a slideshow with music. I'll be using Windows Movie Maker. It's for my friends and I since we graduate this year its supposed to be special to just us. I already have an idea as to what types of songs I need;
1. a song about "sticking it to the man", rebellion (no war though)
2. a song about best friends forever
3. about making new friends
4. life is a journey sort of song
5. moving on with your life
6. a song about good times, memories
7. growing up, living life, having a great time
8. MOST IMPORTANT ONE!! >>> a tear jerking song, MUST BE TEAR WORTHY! a goodbye song, never forgetting.

If you know any songs that would fit in any of these categories just write the number of the category , title of song and artist. THANK YOU!! xxxs

How can I stop a man taking nude photos of young girls??!!?

There is a guy that is in his fourties and lives in california. I met him about 5 years ago and 5 years ago I was 18. He owns a stripping service for bachelor parties and that is how I got in contact with him. I was young and dumb needed the money so I did it. My first "party" was a practice party at his house with some of my friends and people that I would be working with. He video taped the whole thing. I had no clue. It was sitting in a spot where I could not see. Then he would take me and my friends out to fancy dinners, concerts, sporting events, get us into clubs/bars... we thought he was cool. Now that im older I know realize that he does this to just about evey girl that he meets which is a lot. I know he is a bad person. He gets girls to go out on his boat most of them being under 21 because he likes young girls. Some of them 15 16 17! Provides all alcohol and encourages the drinking. He however sits back and pertends to get drunk. His camera comes out and its on. He has tradtion that if your new on the boat you have to do whip cream shots off the breast. He waits until the girls are nice and drunk to do this. Then he takes pictures. He has a digital photo album of all the breast he has taken photos off. He is sick. Then they get off the boat and most of the girls are pretty drunk and he tries to have sex with them. He is disturbing. I want this to stop. I regret what I did and have not done any of that in a long long while. He could get in major trouble for this. How can I get him caught?

wedding reception slide shows. ?

I know some people love these and others down right hate them.

I wanted to do one, and so does my fiance and members of our families. Just a collection of cute photos of us growing up and being together. Something for the family, our friends, and our parents.

We were going though his family albums after a death in the family ( needed pictures for the funeral home) and we found lots of cute pictures of him growing up. ( seriously if our kids look like he did when he was little they're going to be soooo cute) and he mentioned that he really wanted them up during the wedding.

So my question is when would be the best time for this?

We're having a bar upstairs in the reception location during our photos. Would that be a good time?

Would it be better just to let it run though during the reception dinner?

Would it be better just to have it loop with out music during the dance?

OR would it be best to have a small digital photo album play on the gust book table?

Or just have a few pictures blown up?

He's the only boy and I'm the only girl so this is a big deal for our families and we're close to our families and guests and we've both had a lot to overcome before getting to this point in our lives so we wanted to do at least some pictures.

The best time to run a slide show is during the toasts from the parents, best man and maid of honor. Chances are they will have something to say about one of the pictures during the toast. They have known you for a long time after all. Congrats on your special day.

I wish digital camera's were never invented?

I remember before digital camera's were invented, that photographs were something people tuck on special occasions, holidays, birthdays and family gatherings, but whatever you tuck photo‘s off, they were tuck on occasions. Now however, people are taking photo's of every single day of their lives. I don’t know if its become some sort of craze? but people are taking photo’s all the time. On Facebook, people are uploading so many photo’s, you often wonder, are they making an auto-biography or something? I’ve seen people uploading photos of them at Mac Donalds and buying bread at the shop, what’s so special about that, why would you even waste your time taking a photo of it? It used to be the case, that you would pick up a photo album, to remember special events in your life, in which it would affect you emotionally with memories, significance and all that, but what are pictures of every single day of your life going to do? Do these people get up in the morning and go, okay, get dressed check, get breakfast check, get work stuff check, oh and get digital camera check, before leaving the door? Every single day these people go out, they take pictures, fair enough if it was an occasion, but this is every single day, so why? Are they just trying to constantly re-assure themselves that they are having a good time?
Is there anyone out there whop feels the same way? If not, then why?

I love my camera. I take a million pictures of my kids, as I want to be able to remember every single minute. My parents, as the reminisce, often say they wished they had had a camera to have been able to capture a certain memory. I don't have to worry about that, as I never leave home without it. As for facebook, don't bother looking at other's photo's if it bothers you so much.

  • Buy Cheap

  • Kodak EasyShare SV-811 8-inch Digital Picture Frame Review ...

Bought this as a gift for one of those "hard to buy for" people in my life (an inlaw), and it was a hit! VERY simple to use, LOVE that it has internal memory-I put about 55 pictures on the internal memory before wrapping it and left it up to the new owner to decide if they needed to purchase an additional memory card or not. The on/off timer is a great perk, you can set the frame to turn on/off every morning and evening at a specified time. The remote control is another great perk, you have the control to pause and play just like a DVD. The color and clarity of this frame is awesome, fits well with any decor- from office to formal room. PERFECT GIFT IDEA!!! I took my card with me back to the store, and we tried it in this frame. I needed something that is VERY EASY to use. My mother has trouble with technology and never used a computer. I didn't want her to be intimidated by it. This frame worked perfectly!! It handled the transitions beautifully and managed the orientation flawlessly....
