New Born Baby Photo Album

Hi, sorry it's not in the correct section but wondered if you guys could help, My best freind is due in 1 month and my other best friend and i wanted to get her some gifts for when the baby is here, we were thinking of getting her a "baby bag" - but she's quite a cool.trendy girl, can anyone advise on where to get one from? Also, for the baby we were thinking a a really nice photo album that she can put special photos in (spending about £50 on that) also, can ou think of anything else that you would have really wanted? We though about a spa day but think she might not want to leave teh baby for a whole day for about a year! lol, Thanks in advance xx

A spa day would be really nice - but personally i didn't feel like doing anything for weeks after the birth i was far too tired and sore. Maybe you could think about getting someone to come to the house and give some treatments.

I got a photo album which i am constantly updating - it is a really good gift. I also received a photo frame where you put a little photo each month and then a big one for the 1st birthday.

I bought my niece a disney snow storm and Tiffany's rattle which she now still has in her bedroom and loves.

I'm pregnant and have more ultrasound pictures than I can count. I wanted to buy a nice photo album that not only would hold my ultrasound pictures, but would also last until after my baby is born. I saw a gorgeous and big photo album that seemed like a good investment. After taking it home, I found out otherwise, and now I need some help.

The photo album isn't of the best construction. There are cardboard pages (not sticky), with a thin slip of plastic over top. You're supposed to slide the photo in. Only problem is, ultrasound pictures are much thinner than regular pictures, so the photos I put in were floating all around in the plastic, not staying where I put them. I decided to slip the plastic off of the cardboard sheet and tape the pictures down to keep them in place. Only problem is, by doing that I ruined the plastic sheet over top, it is no longer tight on the pictures, it's very loose and flimsy and looks VERY sloppy. Is there any way to salvage it?

First, ultrasound photos are printed on thermal paper, which means that they will fade over time. You need to scan them and then print out the files, otherwise they'll just disappear! This also gives you the option of printing them out at 4x6 size instead of the original (larger) size.

You can certainly get a nicer album - sounds like the pages you were working with aren't salvageable. I'm a Creative Memories consultant, so of course I think they're the best... but you can get an album that will work at most craft stores. You will need some scrapbook-safe adhesive or photo corners to adhere them to the page.

I am putting together a gift basket for an expectant mom but because money is tight I am trying to go all homemade...I need ideas for things I can make for mother and baby... Some of the things I have already made include:
A baby photo album...I took an old photo album that was given to me last Christmas and made a covering out of some cute whinnie the pooh fabric that I had cuz babys room is gonna be winnie the pooh
A picture frame...Again an old gift that wasnt being used...bordered with the pooh bear fabric.
A homemade recipe book with recipies for homemade baby food
A fleece blanket made from some fleece material that I bought at a yard sale

I need some more ideas please....

Since you are crafty - you should make a buncha baby washcloths and burp towels! I have like 20 washcloths and still need more!

My best friend aka (Sister-4-Life) is having a baby due in April...she's a teen mother, and we as her bestest friends are planning to give her a "surprise" baby shower. However we need more ideas...I have few planned here they are...
1. Select a theme for the shower....she likes Bratz and she is 15.....
2. Create your own decorations. place a framed photo of the parents-to-be on the gift table for a personal touch. Be sure to provide the mother-to-be with her own special chair next to the gifts and mark it by tying Balloons at the entrance.
4.Make a memorable centerpiece, Diaper cake or A stuffed animal in a basket with baby stuff surrounding it.
5.Decide on the menu. It can simply be cake and punch, chicken wings, Finger foods, sandwiches, fruit or fresh vegetable tray, Nachos and dip, chips n dip, assorted cubed cheeses and crackers, chicken salad, cookies, deviled egges. pasta salad.
6.Plan a variety of games: Some more active games are "Baby Hot Potato" where you pass a baby doll around a circle while you play a lullaby. Whoever is holding the baby when the music stops is out. Keep going until one person is left. Or "Diaper a Doll while Blind-folded." All you need is a doll, a diaper and safety pins and a dark blind-fold. "Baby Bottle Drink-off" is a hilarious game."

What do you all think, are there anymore ideas for the theme, food, decorations, and how to set it up well for the surprise. I was thinking of holding it at our school in the commons area. Over by that way its a cafeteria where she can go and she will not see anything. That way they can make their way down that trail and then she will open her eyes and see what we have planned.

I like baby animal themes - then there is a lot of room for you to make your own games, decorations. there is also a guessing game where everyone guesses how big around they think the mother-to-be is at the largest part of her belly. My son is 6 months old and I have a step daughter that is 10.She doesnt live with us full-time.I have only been around since she was 7. I saved alot of things from when he was born. Like his hospital braclet,ID card,coming home outfit,cards, feet and hand prints etc.I have tons of pictures in a photo album since he was born.But the thing is, my step-daughters Mom never saved anything.She doesnt have many baby pictures,no photo album or anything.Its not wrong for me to save things of my sons, or have a baby album, is it??Since her Mom didnt do it for her??I mean he is my son,I gave birth to him,carried him for 9 months.It means alot to me to save those things and get alot of pictures and videos, they grow so fast.Someone told me it was wrong of me to do because her Mom didnt do it for her.You dont think its wrong, do you??And she never had a 1st birthday party.Would it be wrong for me to throw my son one?I wasnt around when she was that age.
I have had people tell me that would be wrong to throw him a 1st birthday party since she never had one. But why should I let my son miss out because of her Mother?? Its not wrong, is it??

Oh hell no!!!!!! It is not wrong, he is your first baby, just because your step daughters mother didn't get off her ass and do stuff for her then it isn't any problem of yours and it shouldn't impede what you do for your son. Most of the time baby books and such are more of a memory thing for the mothers, you may say you will pass it on, but until your kids have kids of their own it wont mean as much to them as it does to you. Keep doing what you are doing with your son YOU ARE NOT DOING ANYTHING WRONG AT ALL!!!! You can maybe throw a big birthday party for your step daughter so she sees that it isn't just about your son, and maybe you could start a keep sake book with her, from her parties and special things she does with you as a family.
Some people are idiots and like to make you second guess everything you do, please don't listen to them, you must be a great mum and are doing the best you can wich is all you can do, you aren't a super hero are you???? Lol.
You know what you would like to do to remember your sons life because as you said they do grow up so fast, I am doing exactly the same thing with both of my kids and no-one would tell me otherwise, they are my flesh and blood and I love them with all my heart and what about if something happened to them one day.....at least you would have something tangible to hang on to and remind you of when they were little.
Keep going with your keepsakes, you carried him for nine months, gave birth and have been looking after him, you are his mother and are intitled to do anything with and for him (unless it is classed as abuse) it is a very special memory and the ones who have a problem with it obviously haven't done one themselves!!!
