Paper Photo Album

When I wrote 'digital' I meant those albums with the photos printed directly on the board ; the traditional one - that with photos printed on paper which in turn are attached to the board.

I would keep both. there is the potential risk of losing both. Always good to have back up!!

I bought a hallmark photo album, and on the package it said 'to keep photos lasting long and to keep them from damage keep them away from regular paper, newspaper etc'.

So if i have a page of regular paper in my album and a picture on it, it will hurt the picture? It doesnt make sense to me that regular paper could damage a picture in any way.


The paper is Hammermill, Multipurpose paper, and it says its acid free. so is that ok for it to touch my photos?

The simple answer to your title question is YES. Regular paper can be harmful to photos. Hammermill paper is not regular paper; however, because, as you state, it is acid free. It is the acid content found in regular paper that reduces the life expectancy of objects associated with it. If your photos turn out to not be long lasting- it won't be the fault of your paper. Do a little more research regarding the dyes and pigments you are using in your photos. They are going to be determining factor.

I am suppose to put together a photo album and I have no clue what I am suppose to be doing after I buy it..where am I suppose to put the photos on the sheet? and part of the paper started coming of with it..I dont know if I am tearing it or messing up something

Don't use that style of photo album. Yes, those pages peel back and you attach the photo to the sticky, cardboard surface. Trouble is, these pages will in time ruin your photos. Also, you will not be able to remove the photos without damage in later years. Throw that crap in the trash. Use an album with photo safe plastic pockets to match the size of your photos.

Is there a special type of album i can purchase (preferably not very expensive!) ? I need one for a bunch of really old photos and papers that have been kept in an album that is in really bad shape. any type of help with preserving old stuff would be nice!

Do a search on archival scrap booking. There are several sites that have advice and products to preserve your old papers.

Hi,

Can anyone recommend a website or store where I can submit artwork or photographs and have them printed in a photo album?

I am specifically looking to print on an album which has hard pages. I have looked on Photobox, but all their albums seem to be printed on photo paper and seems to be floppy (non-hard).

Any help would be appreciated, and if more info is required, I will put it on additional details.
