Photo Album Gift

My dad is turning 60 and we're throwing a HUGE surprise birthday party on Sat. All of his friends and family will be there and we told them not to bring gifts. I had an idea of creating a scrapbook with pictures of him with his friends and family. I was going to create an index in the front where people could look for their name and go to the page numbers where their pictures are, and write a message near their photo.
I never made a scrapbook before and the first couple of pages I made came out HORRIBLE. So then I bought a sketch book and pasted the scapbook paper in it and put pictures on top of that to look nice. This too looked tacky and bad.

Now, I only have 3 days so I thought about getting a regular photo album and puting an index in the front. Then putting everyone's pictures in it and putting blank sheets after each page so everyone can sign. Is this a good or bad idea? ANybody have any suggestions?

It is a good idea but you should decorate the pages . I don't mean that you actually draw and colour stuffs I mean you cut and paste pictures from magazines and make it interesting to look at the pictures of your family.

My boyfriend and I have been dating awhile but things have just gotten serious with the 'i love yous' and such. It's his birthday next week and I got him a photo album. I'm going to print off the few digital pictures of us and things we've done together that I have, with the idea that we can add more photos to it later. You know, as our relationship grows and all that :P Something sweet and a way of having tangible memories...

But I also got him a DVD that he wants, a flexible tripod for his new camera, and a quirky hilarious little stuffed animal cause he likes random odd things like that.

So what do you think- is the photo album TOO cheesy?

He insists that he doesn't want anything material, and all he wants is me for his birthday, which he is getting (it's a long distance relationship).

So? Good idea? Bad idea? Would you guys be touched if a girlfriend did that for you?

Well, when I first read the question, I was thinking a photo album might not be such a good gift. But you said you're in a serious relationship with him, so the photo album in turn becomes a useful gift and a useful item. I think it's perfectly fine in my mind.

My best friend is going to change school and we wont be 2gether anymore...so i thought of giving her a photo album for a birthday gift.....but i dont want to go and buy one....i want to create it by myself.... i think she will apreciate it better ..... How can i create thick pages to put in?

Go to a scrapbooking store and they would have plenty of materials. They might even offer classes.

It's one of my best friends birthdays tomorrow. I was going to get him a pacsun giftcard and also some gum but i wanted to do something else cool. I want to get a small photo album and fill it with pictures of us. I'm just wondering if he'd think thats lame because I'm a girl and he's a guy.
