I don't have much money to purchase a brand new professional camera? Which would be a good inexpensive camera that could help me build my identity for the art of photography?
I would like to take black and white pics
headshots
and fashion
thanks for your expertise!!!
canon / nikon is your best bet if you're looking for DSLR
I'd suggest the Canon EOS XSi digital rebel and with a 50mm f1.8 II or a 50mm f1.4 USM lens

I want to get into photography. I just want a camera that can open the door for me. I want to spend about 200. I want a digital slr camera but they are too expensive. Is there a nice digital camera to get me in the door? Then if i decide that i really want to venture on then i can invest in a more expensive high quality camera. What would u suggest?
You did not mention the currency. If you mean 200 GBP, then I would definitely suggest the Canon 1000D. That is the cheapest DSLR, and even the cheapest DSLR can beat the most expensive compact.
If you mean 200 USD, you can't get a DSLR . So I would suggest something like the Canon G series, which is like the next best thing to a DSLR, but way better than compacts.
Also consider an used DSLR.
Preferably one that's easy to figure out, and takes AMAZING quality pictures. Pictures that look professional.
I use a Fuji A820.
I am really into photography, and the crappy kodak I've got now isn't really doing very well. So, I'd like to get a new one.
Preferably something that is fairly easy to figure out that won't take a year to figure out how to snap a simple shot.
I'd like to keep it under 500 dollars, but price isn't really an issue.
What do you recommend?
Links would be great as well.
Well if you want a camera that's fully automatic look into the Canon PowerShot A560. If you want one where you adjust shutter speeds/aperture etc look into the Canon A590 IS.
The A590 IS is a camera in which you can learn a bit about photography. There are reasons people change shutter speeds and aperture settings and this inexpensive camera you can do it with; or just leave on auto. It's "next shot delay" is fairly quick.
I prefer a Canon or Nikon.

I would pick up Nikon Guide To Creative lighting. That photostream is good; however all you'll be doing is mimicking the setup without understanding WHY it's set up in such a way. With that DVD (30 bucks), they'll go through the basics of light to setting up small intimate shoots and ending with one mindblowing ridiculous 11 light shoot. It certainly is something when it all comes together.
