Which is the best digital SLR camera for sports photography?

Sony, Nikon, Pentax? Make and model please!!!!!

Also any top lense ideas?

I am looking to spend up to around £700 on the body.

I am interested in learning about photography and taking some action shots. Sailing, watersports, but also wildlife, people, etc.

Ideas and suggestions much appreciated.

Also, any top London schools for learning about using the camera?

I would recommend a canon 400D or 30D. Canon have the widest range of lenses that will help you to do all of that.

for the lens, if u like all in one lens, i would recommend the Canon EF28-300mm f/3.5-5.6L IS. I know its expensive and bulky, but it covers a lot of ground and the image quality is just simply stunning. i own one

Or if u want a few lenses get a Canon EF24-70mm f/2.8 and a Canon EF70-200 f/2.8 IS lens. This will definitely allow you to take better pictures than the all in one solution, but you also have to be bothered with changing lens everytime and it also end up costing more.

What would be a good camera to for sports photography?

what are some cameras that would be good for sports photography? i was thinking about getting the nikon d40 but its kind of expensive, im saving up for a camera and trying my best to get a camera before summer is over

For sports photography your main goal is to be able to shoot fast so look for a camera with a fast shutter speed. Most SLR's will be fast enough. If you want to keep cost down try a film camera with the film at an ISO of 800. Also you may want to put your money in to a nice Lens. It'll probably cost you more then the camera but a good lens is priceless. Just remember you get what you pay for. Also a good flash works wonders.

Whats the best camera for SPORTS PHOTOGRAPHY?

very interrested in sports photography, and im looking for your opinion of the best cameras for sports photography. any help is appreciated.... yes, i know its going to be expensive

I would say the Canon 1D Mark III which is the next generation after the 1D Mark II that I have. This series makes up the majority of sports and photojournalist cameras now. I would recommend fast lenses. I have :
17-35 f/2.8 L (the 16-35 is the newer version)
24-70 f/2.8 L
70-200 f/2.8 L IS (the best general purpose sports lens)
500 f/4.0 L IS (a huge lens that is often used by pros)

I need a good camera for sports photography and for photos of people who walk around, which is best?

I have used a point-and-shoot all this year, and everything is blurry. I like to take photos of sports and of the political candidates when they come to town, but they always walk around the stage. I wanted to know if 3 fps is good enough for sports and for people walking. because I don't want to spend more than around 700 bucks. thanks
I am looking more for a D-SLR, not another point-and-shoot.

For $700 or less, you can get a nice entry level DSLR like a Nikon D40. Currently, the D40 is available with an 18-55mm and a 55-200mm lens for under $600.

It's great for all types of shots, including sports and portraits.
Look here for different types of photos that people have submitted. Just type in the subjects that interest you.

How do I choose a good Digital SLR camera for sports photography?

My main area of intrest is taking action shots and sports photos. Can anyone help or give me some suggestions to what I should be looking at? I'm planning to buy, but I don't have an unlimited amount of funds, if you know what I mean. As a matter of fact, I'm kind of strapped. Any suggestions on the best deal with greatest performance?

I really believe buying a camera is an individual choice.
The person needs to read alot of reviews on cameras and learn as much as they can from the internet.
Go to the store and hold them and try them to see what they feel like and how they take pictures.
I can only give a suggestion of what to look for in a new digital camera.
Good Luck

  • Farewell, sports fans, but not goodbye | Homer Tribune

There are too many sport-minded folks in this town who have helped me along the way. I couldn’t possibly name them all, but a few are Beth Trowbridge, Buck Laukitis, Deb Lowney, Bill Bell, Allan Phelps, Doug Schweisow, Kim Duggar, Dan Deschamps, Catriona Lowe, Stacey Murphy, Rachel Lord, Anna Borland-Ivy, Megan Corazza, Dave Gilbert, Julie Barnes and Warren Waldorf. There are a few things, honestly, that I won’t miss about covering sports – chief among them the long weekend hours it takes to quickly write up all of the week’s athletic goings-on over at Homer High. It’s going to be nice to have my weekends back so that I can do what comes naturally – watching sports on TV –while all the Homer coaches enjoy quiet Sunday evenings at home without worrying about me calling in the middle of dinner.
