Camera Photo Software

I’m staring my new hobby, Photography and I would like to know what Camera and Photo software I should buy?

I would really like to get a fast, and excellent Camera for my new hobby. So which should I buy and what software is best for editing my photos?

My price range is $5000.00 and I use Windows XP but if needed I can get a Mac to use with my hobby.

Does anyone know of a similar photo editing software like canon photo record that's free to use? I want to add boarders & themes. I don't really want to edit the photo just add boarders, frames, etc.
Please don't suggest photo shop or Picasa as I've had Picasa & found it didn't have what i was looking for.

My Canon PowerShot A520 digital camera came with its own software but my computer came with Photo Album 6 (basic).

So, which is better for use with my digital camera software - Corel Photo Album 6 or Canon's PhotoStitch/Zoom Browser/PhotoRecord,etc.

I have a Casio Exilim camera, and I'm looking for some really good software where I can do a lot of editing with the pictures. What do you suggest?

Adobe Photoshop. I work at a newspaper and that is what we use to adjust all the photos I take. There are many versions of this program like 5.0, 6.0, 7.0 and CS2 and etc. Depending on what kind of editing you want to do the 5.0 would be less expensive to purchase than like the CS2. HINT: the better photos you take the less adjusting you will need to do, that's what my editor always tells me.

I have a Canon PowerShot DS600 digital compact camera and I want to be able to take pictures from it using my computer. As I am interested in using it for Stop Motion. However, I have tried Stop Motion Pro, MonkeyJam and VideoCat, none are picking up my camera. I do not necessarily need a stop motion program. With onionskinning and video compilation and all that stuff if it's not possible. I just need something that can take pictures from my camera without pressing the button on the top.

have you thought about hacking it with a firmware that supports the intervalometer function from:

you'll still need to press the button but it will keep taking pics for desired time and interval until the card is full
