Can resolution & quality of photo be above average in a use and throw camera? what brand?any photos samples?
Laze

There's a certain amount of truth in the old adge, "You get what you pay for."

If you buy a cheap camera, you're going to get cheap results. You will probably not find a disposable camera that will give you above average results. Disposable camers are basically designed for taking snapshots. In that roll, they do a very good job, but at best you're going to have average resolution and quality.

Mandarin Duck

Hello,

I took a Nikon D40 SLR Camera 3 months ago
Lens is:18 mm - 55 mm - F/3.5-5.6 G ED II Nikon AF-S

There was always a stain on my photos , first I thought it is because of setting but I realised it is not .

Please find a sample photo on below address : (I put the stain in a red circle).

Do you have any idea ,what can cause it ?

Many thanks in advance

That's a piece of micro dust on your sensor, in your menu features look for mirror lock up and apply this, hold the camera down as if you were shooting the floor without the lens attached.... apply mirror lock up, use a $10 Rocket Blower and just air out the whole shadow box area. Make sure you keep it pointed down - that way anything blown loose by the air will have gravity to help get it away and out . 99 out of 100 times this works, if it's that 1 time out of 100 then get anal and try an applicator process and good luck with that one.... When you discover after blowing out the shadow box with the mirror up and shutter open using mirror lock up has eliminated the spot? It's time to clean off your caps inside and out and your lens mount areas.... Anytime you change a lens? Practice the exchange with the camera body pointing down, check the mount area (rear lens) for dust, then attach the lens. Dust gets inside a camera based on wind/turbulence or gravity. Holding the body down to do lens exchanges cuts down on the chances considerably.

If you go the chemical swab or whatever physical contact method? Touch the shutter curtain and buy a new camera ..... too much juice, too much pressure...new sensor.... using this method requires you to access the shadow box area with the body pointing up, clean, clean, clean all the while gravity is helping to deposit more inside....

Sure send it in, what will happen is a guy will blow it out like a I described then check it for spots and send it back stating it was cleaned...I guarantee you this because I know it for a fact

We charged people $75 at one time for cleaning the heads on a VCR, PLACE ONE HAND ON THE CYLINDER, WITH THE OTHER HAND WRAP A CLEAN HIGH THREAD COUNT CLOTH AROUND THE INDEX FINGER, ROCK THE CYLINDER BACK AND FORTH WHILE APPLYING FIRM PRESSURE WITH THE INDEX FINGER TO THE SIDE OF THE CYLINDER....THAT WAS $75.... today it's cleaning sensors and changing light bulbs in LCD monitors..... yet someone will create a perception that some sophisticated nuclear fuel rod system is being handled with the most advanced scientific equipment known to man in order to fix your problem..... HOLD CAMERA UPSIDE DOWN WITHOUT LENS ATTACHED, APPLY MIRROR LOCKUP SETTING IN MENU, USE AN AIR BLOWER TO REMOVE DUST PARTICLES - but tell them a completely different line and make it look so advanced only a trained and highly skilled person could do it with the use of expensive chemicals and applicators and then sugar coat the whole thing by convincing everyone only this highly specialized and advanced method will work......

Do not use compressed air or canned air, propellants and moisture will create more spots, the Rocket Blowers work just right..good old fashioned hand power. Also don't practice cleaning unless you notice spots only.... take a shot of your screen with a plain white raster or go outside and shoot an even part of the sky, look at the image and examine it for spots...sometimes it is necessary to repeat the process.... Anal people think they have to wipe sensors and practice regular scheduled cleanings...you either have visible spots or you don't...my motto is this..."If it ain't broke don't fix it" masochist like that though...

Dark spot on digital camera photos?
Sample Photo from Sony Ericsson Xperia Play Android Smartphone

Today, when I was uploading photos from my camera onto my computer, I noticed a dark spot on all the pictures. It's most obvious in the ones with light or plain backgrounds, and almost invisible in photos with really busy backgrounds. Evidently it's been there for about a week.

I tried cleaning the lens with the soft cloth I use to clean my glasses (no cleaning fluid, though), but the spot did not go away. What is it, and how can I get rid of it?

My camera isn't under warranty any more -- and even if it was, I couldn't prove it because the receipt is long gone and I never registered it. It's bugging me now, and I really want to get rid of this thing. Help?

The camera is a Samsung S630, if that helps.

Here's a link to a sample photo from my camera:

It's leftover fettuccine alfredo. The chunk in the middle is a hunk of chicken. It's part of <a href="http://everything-i-eat.blogspot.com> my blog</a>.

Thanks for the suggestion of shaking the camera, insider. It worked! And thanks for the tip, Dana -- good to know for next time, if shaking the camera doesn't work. :)

Dust on the sensor.
Try giving the camera a vigorous shake
or gently tapping it on a hard surface.

Or take it to be serviced.

BTW what IS that on the plate?

Advice on which camera to buy for nature photography?
Sample Photo from Sony Ericsson Xperia Play Android Smartphone

I want to purchase a new digital camera for my photography. I am looking for a more amateur/professional camera for nature photography. I need one that can do the following, preferably:

One that takes very high res images.
One with a good/fast zoom since I take a lot of close-up pictures of very small things and landscapes you cannot get real close too.
Something that can take a little movement. Be a small tremor from me, or movement from the subject.
Would prefer a view finder then a screen, but not a must. Something that can take a little moisture and some shaking. I hike a lot for photography, so it could get bumpy. I am also in the south, so the humidity is very high here all year round. I am not going to take it out in a rainstorm (it would be nice if I could), but a little moisture is going to be inevitable.

I am looking to spend around $350-$500 on the camera.

Anyone know of a model that is good for this? Any personal experiences with it? Any sample photos? Help?

If you can shell out a little more, buy a Nikon D50 SLR digital camera. It's a lower end camera but you can build on it. Great resolution. 6.1 megapixels. And you can buy different lenses (macro, zoom, wide angle) later on. You won't be disappointed.

If your deadset on price btwn 350-500, check out the Fuji Fine Pix s5200. It has max optical zoom of 10X and resolution of 5.1 mp.

I think Fuji's resolution is great, too.
