Digital Camera Photo Studio

I have to create a digital photo studio at work. I operate a businss that has to take alot of pictures of art. For years we have used our digital camera with our semi-pro equipment and have made our business so successful that our current process is too slow. I want to automate as much of the process as possible. I think I should be able to use a remote on our camera and have a monitor so I can see what I am shooting instead of looking through the camera. I also think that I can shoot directly to my hard drive...etc...etc..I can not find anything on line to read, I am getting now where with this. Does anyone know where I can talk to someone or recommend to me what or where I should go next.

Every DSLR (interchangeable lens digital camera) and many higher-end non-DSLR digitals allow "tethered" operation -- where the camera is connected to a computer by a USB cable, and the computer can control the camera (including exposure settings, focus, and taking the picture). The image is then downloaded directly to the computer, bypassing the camera's memory card, and shown on the computer monitor. You get a nice large assessable view of the image immediately, don't have to take out memory cards and download them to the computer, and quick adjustment of exposure parameters.

Check your camera's manual to see if the one you have can already work tethered (you may have to buy additional software -- with Canon cameras it comes with the camera, with Nikon you have to buy "Nikon Capture" software for about $100, other brands vary).

I have a SONY cyber-shot, a large unused living area and lots of household items w/ potential. I want to take head shots and fashion ad type photos. What setting do I need to set my camera to? What is the best type of lighting and how can I achieve this? Other ideas?

The reason for all of this is, that I've received an invitation (finally) to my choice modeling agency. AND I HAVE NO PRO PHOTOS!!!!! This weekend is the only time I have to get it done, and I want them to look perfect. Can someone help me please? My career depends on it. (Well, not true, I'm in school for something else.) But this can really change my life in a great way.

Assuming you are a model rather than a photographer.
You do NOT need professional shots initially to be signed with a decent agency.

You will certainly not get them on your own in a front room studio with a cybershot anyway.

If they have asked you to send some pictures then just get your parents or a friend to do a couple of head and shoulders and full length shots.
If you are actually going to see them then you don't need the shots. As a new model the agency would not expect you to have a portfolio of modelling shots.

We just bought our first digital camera. In the past we've taken our kids to Walmart or Sears Portrait Studio and bought their $10-$15 package, where you get about forty pictures of various sizes, all one pose. I'm thinking that with a digital camera you choose your pictures and buy them by the sheet, but has anyone ever heard of a place that will give you a deal on a "package" of all one pose, such as a couple of 8X10s, a couple of 5X7s and a couple dozen wallet-sized photos. And a second question, where is a good place to get digital photos developed in general? We're more concerned with getting them inexpensively than getting them done while we wait, and we do have internet connection, although it's dial-up, and rather slow. Thank you. - Stephanie

I use Walgreen's to get my digital prints. You can upload your photos to their website (your private page) and then crop and enhance them if you want using their software. Then you choose how many copies of each you get printed. You can either pick them up at a local Walgreen's or they will send them to you for a bit extra. Its 19 cents per 4x6 print or 15 cents if you order 100 or more. I usually wait until I have 100 to print (I get lots of copies for family not living nearby). I have always been pleased with the prints I've got from there and find the website easy to use. However, uploading may take a while with a dial-up. I've just had a look at the website and they do a family pack (4.99)and an ultimate value pack (9.99) which are the sort of thing you are looking for. They've also got a Halloween offer on, buy 25 4x6 photos, get 25 free!

I have a normal click and print camera bought some 15 years back. On this i have to print photos by giving the negatives at a photo studio. I am planning to buy a digital camera for storing photos on the pc and priting them only if required. I need info on the following.

1. how does a digital camera work.
2. What are the basic features one should look out for. I need only for family vacations and parties.
3. Any recommendations on the brand to go in for
4. What is the ideal price range one should go in for. Dont want a very high end one.

it should come with rechargeable batteries and charger. go for 5.0 megapixles or higher for a good quality image. U can now get a cheaper one for around £35 but if u want a good picture quality then it is better to go for one about £100-£300. Only go for top-brands like Sony, Phillips, casino, etc... Digital Cams work by taking a picture and then storing it straight on the memory so u can instantly view it and make sure u don't need to take another one. when arrive back to you're computer then u can download onto you're hard drive, print them, e-mail to you're mates etc..

I want to get a camera photo printer, and I found one I like, its an...:
HP Digital Camera and Printer Photo Studio
but I don't own and am not getting and "HP" camera. Will it still work if I have a fugifilm or Canon or something?

If the printer has slots for your memory card then it should read the pictures on them regardless what brand of camera you used to take them with
