Yes. You can use it for ichat, Skype, and any other video chat program. I use it for Skype everyday. That is actually what it was designed for. Photobooth was just an after thought. :)

When i try to record something using my video camera in photo booth, it just comes up with a black screen. Does it only work with iSight camera's?
Any webcam. not only isight. a camera/camcorder won't work. just make sure you could use the webcam for macs. the place you buy it at would tell you if it could be used for macs.

I was wondering if you could get a computer camera that has the same effects as the photo booth that is already IN the laptops from apple? I feel stupid asking, but I gotta know!!! lol
Yep you can! I have a mac (they rock!!) but my dad has a dell & he wanted to ichat with us so he bought a standard camera that sets on top your computer & it had a bunch of effects just like photoshop. Just look on the box for special effects or go to frys or best buy & tell them what you want.
The green light on my Mac Book camera is on and I just turned it on. iChat and Photo Booth were both off. When I opened Photo Booth (to see if the tissue was really covering it) it was black. Does this mean someone is watching me? And how do I know/ turn it off?

From Finder Help
"To turn off iSight, close the active application window. The green indicator light turns off, showing that the camera is off and video has stopped."
Look in System Preferences > Accounts > "your account" > Login Items to see if an of the apps that use iSight is on the list. Anything listed will auto-start when logged into an account.

In the past, photo booths usually showed up along the sidewalk. If you desperately needed to get a mugshot taken for your passport, you simply popped into one to take a picture, and out would come a strip of photos. But these days, photo booths are enjoying a healthy revival at events such as parties and weddings where they provide a fun picture-taking experience for guests.
Two commercial photographers in Australia, Marija Ivkovic and Lachlan Moore, have decided to capitalize on this trend and build a fully portable, inflatable photo booth that has an 11-megapixel camera. Images snapped are transferred to a password-protected online gallery where guests can browse and order prints.
No word on rental pricing yet, but you can take a look at the booth's Web site for more information.
