Okay so me and my dad own a business where we film weddings, baptisms, etc and we would like to add photography to it. I would be the one to take the pictures. I go to an art school so getting pointers and a class about photography should be easy. But i would like to know what is the BEST professional camera? Rangefinders? Nikon? Canon etc. One that would capture very Beautiful professional pictures. :)
Nikon D3, D3X, or Canon 1DS Mark III

iOS 5 will bring some nice new features to the camera app. A cool quick photo option from sleep and volume button shutter. Also new utilities ...
I know we can photograph IR and (and UV?).. But could we modify a camera to be sensitive to say microwaves or radio waves?
Imagine photographing a radio transmitter... It would look awesome!
Well, yes and no. Light waves have very small wavelengths, and therefore can be reasonably detected by the pixels in an LCD camera sensor.
Radio waves, however, are MUCH larger, because the frequency is much lower. You would need a very big array to come up with anything like a photograph. Think of trying to take a picture, not of photons, but of basketballs instead.
However, there do exist "cameras" of the sort you're talking about. The "PAVE PAWS" radar installation on Cape Cod is a form of radio-wave camera, used for creating radar images of the entire area. It's "pixels" are a big array of antennas (and they use signal-processing techniques so that the array acts both as a sensor and as a lens).
But, such a camera HAS to be large, because it's dealing with long wavelengths. Something as small as a pocket camera just couldn't do the job.

If detail on a photo is hidden beneath light, can it be recovered. If so, does anyone know who could do it?
yes to a certain extent that is possible. Overexposure ("whiter" picture) with traditional photography (non-digital) is correctable to a further level than underexposure. The negative of an overexposed picture looks blacker, so light goes through more difficult. So in the process of transferring the image from your negative to the actual fotopaper you need a longer time of lighting. and you can also expose parts of your paper longer or shorter than other parts by holding a piece of black paper in the light beam for part of the exposure time (that is in the dark room where you develop your pictures).
Well, so far for the old-fashioned ways... There is a digital "version" of this over- /under- exposing in foto-enhancing software. I suppose you used a digital camera.
Open your photo in adobe photoshop, select only the part that is too dark and make that part brighter (menu: image->adjust->brightness/contrast) and do the opposite to the parts that are too bright. Also you can try to skip this manual work by the function image->adjust->equalize (most of the times the effect of this function is too strong, but you can fade it afterwards)
One thing to not forget: editing photos is almost magic but not quite: information that was not in your picture will never get in it (unless by drawing it in with the mouse). actually brightening or darkening you picture and allmost all editing processes make you picture loose information, even if it makes them look better. So most of the times a good camera and good light and a steady hand are more important for a good picture than skills in after-editing.
photoshop is highly fun to use, even though it takes a while to teach it yourself. If you don't have photoshop and don't want to start using it you can use windows photoprograms like Micosoft photo-editor or so. That is somewhat easier. Sometimes one gets "photoshop elements" or something alike for free with a camera or scanner, you probably have something like that. brightness/contrast is so elementary, it will be in all image editing programs.

good luck and lots of fun improving your photo's!
By the way, if you don't feel like doing it yourself, most professional photography stores will do this for you in photoshop. Costs a lot, and often one of your 15yr old neighbours knows their way better in that program and can do the trick fine. So ask around for some wizzkids in your friend circle is my advice.

What does digital mean anyways? And what's a camera?
We didn't have any of that mumbo jumbo in my day.
We'd have to stand in front of a white sheet of paper, with a 400watt bulb in our faces, for 3 days!
U don't know you're born.
Cheers dude. You are the winner!

I think this leads back to an erroneous notion that items found on the internet are either public domain, due to the magnanimous intentions of the creator, or free for the grabbing due to their public posting. It is a little like the mentality of the proponents of unauthorized wireless internet access. If a person leaves their wireless access point unprotected, they are, by default, inviting people to use it. Only people who hide their SSID, for example, do not wish to share their connection. The same could be said of internet images. By posting them, there is an assumption that free use is implied by virtue of their being visible in the first place. It seems there is a generational effect at work here. The expectation of intellectual property seems to be proportional to the age of the both the artist and the consumer of the artists fruits. Younger people, especially those growing up with the omnipresence of computers in their lives, have a lower expectation of their work being an item...
