What is the BEST digital professional wedding photography camera right now?
[Love.] - meet me in the shadows.

I know everyone has a preference and it also depends on how one uses a camera but just technologically speaking, what is the top, most used digital camera right now by professional wedding photographers and possibly why?

I know Canon and Nikon are the most used, I am looking for an answer with a specific model. Like Nikon D3 or something like that. Something used by professional wedding photographers

Curious :)

Personally, I use Canon 40D and 5DMkII. Its Canon V Nikon really (a bit like PC V Mac). Both will get the job done and it comes down to personal preference.

Though, more important than the camera itself is:

1. The lenses. A poor quality lens on the best camera will result in a poor image.
2. The ability of the photographer. As stated, all the best gear in the world cant make a bad photo a good one.

what is the best PROFESSIONAL digital photography camera that you have used?
stow away with me.

i need a new camera. and i'm thinking of getting a real, professional digital camera.
but i'm trying to do some research on which brands and models are better

so please tell me what your favorite professional digital camera that you've used out of experience was. why you liked it a lot, where you got it, how much it was, and whatever else you think i should know.

also please answer:

1. how well are the quality of the pictures you took with this camera?
2. what are some negative sides to this camera?

thank you soo much everyone!!!! :)

p.s. i'm aware that some people will tell me that it all depends on your skill level and less dependent on the camera. i know that because i've been studying photography for 4 years. but it's my first experience buying a new camera (i've used a borrowed one for the past few years) so please help me out!! thanks!! :)

Ah good, photography student, I'd just skip direct to the answers:

Best pro dslr I've used: Nikon D700
Best pro dslr I own: Nikon D300s

::D700::
1. Superb! Full 35mm frame gives you the same feeling I used to get from film camera, but long gone since I moved to cropped APS-C sensor dslr. 12MP might not be enough for some, but more than enough for me.

2. Expensive? (but that's just me)

::D300s::
1. I moved up from a D100, can't stop grinning ear to ear at how good it performs. Not a D700 in anyway but I like it a lot. Shooting at high ISO gives me that film-like grainy look which I like, instead of the color blobs that I hate. 7fps makes bracketing for HDR shots a breeze.

Did I mention it uses 2 memory card?

2. ISO3200 shadow details no good, very noisy.

I'm looking for the highest quality digital camera for professional photography that i can get. any ideas?
brighter place.

It needs to be a digital camera of the professional level.
ok. so im in high school right now. i obviously dont want a fourty thousand dollar camera at the moment. im looking for something that i can honestly afford. the most it could be is 1000 dollars. however, it needs to be legit quality.

Going for professional, nothing is like Canon,

There are many different camara models available.

But the top of all is;
Canon EOS 30D

I'm willingly to spend a bit of money on a new digital camera. Not a LOT, but I'm curious as to what you guys think would be a decent camera. I currently have a Canon Powershot A630 and I was looking at some of the Rebels. Any advice?

I love my Nikon D200, and would have a D300 (2007 Camera of the Year) if I could.

The Nikon D300 is an outstanding professional level camera.

If budget was not a consideration, I'd be carrying a D3 in my camera bag.

Having said that, I was shooting professionally for years with a Nikon D70, a 6mp dslr.
Shot with a D70 and a Nikon 75-300mm.

Define "a bit of money" and "Not a LOT" and we'll have a better idea of your price range.

    Like most people today we're a hack photographer. Not by choice it just turned out that way.

    Yes we have burned through a number of cameras and now own two digital cameras, one a super cool DSLR (digital single lens reflex) beauty that captures brilliant images. Problem is they always lack a certain punch. They don't quite tell the story we thought we were going to get. They were just…OK.

    On the other hand our daughter and daughter-in-law shoot beautiful stuff. Our daughter-in-law seems to have that innate ability to make even the simplest of subject almost breathe. Translation – a work of art.

    After our last family vacation and looking at their photos everyone wanted copies of and mine that even our parrot turned away from we decided it was time to do something about the problem because even a newer, better, more gadget-filled, more expensive camera wasn't going to do the trick.
