Hi,
I have a Toshiba laptop (A205) with OS Windows Vista. I am unable to connect my Sony Digital Camera to my laptop through the USB because it does not recognize it. Can anyone recommend any site where I may download a driver so that I can connect my Sony camera to my Windows Vista running laptop? Thanks in advance.
here is a list of some sony drivers for cameras:
http://www.camera-drivers.com/companies/ 965.htm
you also might want to check at toshiba's website, maybe you just need to update the usb drivers on your computer. for that check here:
http://support.toshiba.com/
You also might want to make sure that you have administrative privileges so that the camera can be setup when you plug it in
Hope some of that helps.
Check my website for more tips, tricks and reviews:

Before flash memory and USB ports existed, digital cameras stored their images on an internal 3½-inch floppy disk drive. Yes, a floppy disk camera ...
i have video in my digital camera sony
how can i save it on computer?
windows vista
Just connect your camera to your computer through a usb cable and browse the folder for your camera. somewhere you should see the video file. Just copy & paste that file to your hard disk.

Hi! Please...I have a SONY DSC-S50 Cyber-shot digital camera, and I believe it's time for a battery replacement. The model number on my battery is: NP-FM50. This battery is the original battery and it came with the camera. It's labled as an "infolithium" battery. Please, is it mandatory that I order a SONY replacement battery, in particular, or am I safe in ordering a compatible lithium battery online or elsewhere? If so, which online site is recommended? One site suggested that sometimes third-party batteries don't always work in SONY digital cameras. Sony, naturally, suggests that I use their brand of accessories. I am still quite the novice and any/all advice regarding this subject will be greatly appreciated! Thank you! :)
I've had luck using compatible batteries for my old Sony digicam. But I heard that the newer Sonys have a way of checking if the battery is a genuine Sony infolithium battery.
Best to work with a local seller that has a good return policy - such as Best Buy or Circuit City.
I personally buy most of my rechargable batteries from Thomas Distributing:
http://store.thomas-distributing.com/dis playproduct.asp?which=57
I've also had good luck with Battery Barn:
http://www.batterybarn.com/npfm50.htm
i've heard canon brand is better than sony, but since i already have the battery, charger and memory card i was thinking about getting another sony..
so do i buy a Sony camera or go for a Canon?????
what's your advice?
Tough choice, but think the Canon below would really be the best.
Just saw this camera at Best Buy and think it is a great camera and a best buy. It has an optical viewfinder and uses NiMH rechargeable batteries. Please read as much of the following as you can for other information and help with choosing a camera.
Canon A590IS $134.99 at Best Buy or $116.30 at Amazon.com

Camera reports batteries low, but is it low charge or bad electrical contacts? Overcharging can ruin good batteries! The secret to making digital cameras work better is having good electrical contacts between batteries and camera.
Digital cameras require lots of power. Bad electrical contacts can cause lots of problems so battery and camera contacts must be cleaned properly. Batteries may be fully charged, but will be viewed as low if contacts are not really good. The LCD screen is a low steady load, but when lens extension, optical zoom, focus, and flash charging are added in the capture mode; the load is very heavy. Bad contacts make cameras do strange things like making bad pictures or shutting off with the lens out.
CAUTION Do not overcharge! Batteries can be severely damaged. Use an automatic two or more hour Energizer Compact smart charger with safety timer, temperature monitor, and trickle charge technology ($9.76) at Walmart. For longer life, use Duracell 2000mAh batteries and a full cycle charge monthly. To preserve battery charge, use the view finder and not the LCD screen when possible.
There are so many cameras out there it is difficult to say which is best, but digital is definitely the way to go. The second source link will be very helpful as it list most of the cameras out there with prices.
What gives a camera its picture quality? The following information should help you know what to look for in a camera.
The short answer is that it is mostly the skill of the photographer that produces high quality pictures. The lens and camera are very important, but the ability to set the scene, adjust the cameras settings, and hold the camera very still or use a tripod with auto or remote shutter actuation when required is what gets the great pictures.
Many of the new cameras come with only an LCD screen. Would suggest that you find one that also has an optical view finder because the LCD screen is almost impossible to see in bright sun.
Higher mega pixels may not really be the best thing to look for. It is more expensive, takes longer to process, and may not be needed unless you are making a really large picture or blowing up a small part of a picture. Maximum print size for a 3 mega pixel setting is 8 x 10 inches.

The information about my camera is just to show that you don't need the biggest and best. Just know how to use the one you have.
My camera has 5.2 mega pixel, but I use 3 most of the time because it gives great results, is faster, and takes less memory. Also, it only has a 3 x optical zoom and 7x digital zoom. I never use the digital zoom because making pictures larger works better on the computer. This is an old camera, but everyone is impressed with the quality pictures it takes ... like magic.
Check with the Geeks in several stores and compare prices. Ask what cameras they own, but don't believe everything you hear. Once you select a camera read all about it in the owner's manual. Just learned that my camera has red-eye prevention and correction. It also has adaptive lighting. You may be able to view the owners manual at this link, but will need to Login. http://www.retrevo.com/s/di

Cheapest Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H20/B 10.1 MP Digital Camera
Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H20/B Digital Camera takes amazing pictures. I attend concerts a lot, and prior to getting Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H20/B Digital Camera, I used disposable cameras and camera phones. If I wasn’t right up front, the pictures were terrible. I can stand in the back of a venue and zoom in with Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H20/B Digital Camera, and get some great shots of musicians.
I usually leave Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H20/B Digital Camera on “P,” even in low light. I don’t like Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H20/B Digital Camera’s twilight feature most of the time, especially in a low-light environment that happens to include a lot of strobes, etc.
The gourmet food feature is pretty awesome though. I had to cover a bake-off for my college’s paper, and the cookies and cakes look good enough to eat.
I also have endless hours of fun with the smile detector. Your friends just can’t help but laugh once Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H20/B Digital Camera starts going off over and over.
