Camera Sony Video

Ok,i got a sony video camera with a cassette and to see if it will work tapeing...well it did but that was a practice but how do i delete the video off the cassette!?

You can't delete it, just tape over it.

I have a sony video camera and lots of disks of stuff ive recorded. these are the tiny disks. When i put them into any pc they pc doesnt seem to recognise them, and if it does i cant play anthing from them. if i right click on the disk and clcik explore, there is only a small sound file that lasts about 1 second. Please help!

My dad has a Sony CCD-V8AF camera that he used throughout our childhood for family videos. The thing is that now all our videos are on 8mm video cassettes.

I want to convert them to DVDs and I'm wondering the best way to do this. I can connect the camera to my tv using an RFU-85 adaptor.
Is there any way of connecting the camera to my mac?

You need an "analog/digital converter".

You did not tell us which Mac you are using. Assuming it has a firewire port (not USB) then the best converter is the ADVC55 from Canopus.

Connect the AV cable to the camcorder and the A/D converter (this is the same cable you use to connect to the TV for playback). Connect the A/D converter to the Mac's firewire port. Launch iMovie. Put the camcorder in Play mode. Press Play on the camcorder; Click capture in iMovie.

But the video may not go directly from the camera to the video editor. This is not uncommon. That is whay there are so many video converter utilities out there.

You will probably need to convert the video from your Flip to a format that Vegas can deal with - WMV, AVI, MP4, DV are the likely common video formats. There are others... MPEG StreamClip does a fine job
