Im getting a camera for my birthday and i really like the sony cybershot cameras. But i want to know which one is the newest model.

I have a sony cybershot camera and i want to get a macbook (nota macbook pro), but there is no memory card slot like in the macbook pro. if i hook the camera up to the wire, is there a place in the camera that the other end of the wire will fit in? its the shape of a UBS drive. also, will the camera register on the computer and allow me to upload my photos without currupting anything?

Almost all digital cameras come with a port to plug a cable into and transfer your photos to your computer through USB.

I took pictures of my camera (a Nikon) just to give you an example what that port will look like on your camera.

It's usually covered by rubber skin that you remove to reveal the port:

As for the cable to use, it comes with your camera and looks like this:

(one is a USB end you plug into your computer and the other you plug into the camera port)


When you connect the camera to your computer through the USB cable your Mac will automatically detect it and it will appear as a mounted volume on your desktop which you can open and view the photos and transfer/copy the ones you want to your computer either manually or by using a software like iPhoto. I just purchased this Sony camera, I have had several other cybershot cameras and I have always been able to take a picture, use the zoom features after the picture is taken and then center and crop that picture right on the camera. I can not figure out how to do this with this new camera. I've also reviewed the manual and can't find anything about this feature. I would appreciate it if anyone knows how to do this or even if this feature has been discontinued...which would be a total bummer! Thanks in advance!

I just read through the manual (link below) however I found nothing on cropping an imagie in the camera. You can resize it to make it bigger or smaller, but you can't cut or crop.

I've recorded video on my sony cybershot digital camera and tired uploading them to youtube, but it's not working. I have another KODAK camera and uploaded videos from there to youtube, but some how I'm unable to with sony.
I'm wondering if theres a different setting I should set the camera to, or maybe adjust something so that I'm able to upload videos onto youtube.

YouTube accepts a number of different file formats. I'm quite sure that Sony cameras use the Mpeg 1 video codec, but I'm not entirely sure if it's a compatible format for Youtube. The Youtube help link (below) might offer you some more insight.

Also, make sure your video is no more than 10 minutes in length or no larger than 100MB in size. If it is larger than 100MB (which it easily could be), then you should use Moviemaker or another program to convert/resize it to a more acceptable size and/or format.

I want to record directly to my computer using my sony cybershot camera. Is it possible to do this? (if this doesnt make sense, i want it to be kind of like a webcam)
