Hi,

I have a Sony Ericsson phone and one of the main reasons i got it was because I could insert the memory card directly into my Sony Vaio laptop, meaning i can swap images and music easily from laptop to phone and vice versa.

I am now considering a new camera and wondered if Sony cameras had this same feature? Would the memory card from a Sony camera insert directly into my laptop?

That counts on the card slot. If it uses the Memory Stick format, you'll get an adapter if your camera uses the Memory Stick Duo , like mine.
I have a DSC-T50. Sony does make some really great cameras. I've never been a fan of most of their other electronics (Excpet PS2). But their camera division does a great job.

No, Sony cameras ONLY use MemoryStick or MemoryStick Pro...so you cannot use the SD card.

I used to have a sony digital camera and had bought a sony memory card for it but my camera broke and so i got a new one but its a canon. but I want to load the pics that I have on my sony memory card to my computer, can I use it in my canon?


each camera uses a certain kind of memory card. Your sony was probably a memory stick, or pro duo or something, the canon, like the last person said, is probably an sd. If you really want to know why didn't you try to shove the old one in the new camera. If it fit and saved a taken picture to it then you know it would work. Genius.

i'm trying to buy a new camera without buying new memory cards, can sony camera phones use the SanDisk memory cards?


Sony uses their proprietary "memory stick" and I believe SanDisk makes Ultra II cards in that configuration.

    Even though I have been slowly weaning myself off of the newer Sony cameras, I still have some Sony devices that need memory pro duo cards. There are some advantages and a few disadvantages, namely the cost and availability. Sony’s memory format averages 30 to 100 percent higher prices for the same capacity of SDHC cards. While that sucks, if you have a Sony Camera or a PSP there’s not much you can do about it.

    To that point, both the new Sony Cybershot DSCT300 Digital Camera and upcoming PSP God of War Entertainment Pack will benefit from any of these memory cards. Both of those devices, along with most Sony devices for that matter are only comaptible with the memory duo platform.

    But like I said, if you need one of these cards, there are some advantages especially if you get a Mark II card. Namely, the performance speed of the mark II format is about 50% higher than the fastest available SDHC card at the moment. The rating is for 36 MB/s and what I’ve seen through some basic tests seems to indicate real performance close to this. In fact, the solid performance has to be the biggest pro for these cards. So while it sucks to have little choice, when you factor in the premium performance it’s easier to swallow.
