I am looking for a digital camera for my 5 year old daughter. I need one that actually takes good pictures!!!?
O

Most childrens digital cameras have poor picture quality. I need to find a camera with good picture quality and that comes with the computer software for downloads. Please remember this is for a 5 year old so it has to be durable and somewhat inexpensive. Under $100.00 Thanks!!

Fisher Price has come out with this child's camera that is supposed to be very durable since kids can be a bit rough and leave things lying around the house.

It comes in blue and pink colors.

It's about $70 and comes with everything you need to upload and have those pictures ready for printing. :)

what is a great professional looking digital camera i can use for childrens photography/ small biz?
The List

doesn't have to be anything fancy, just take nice shots & not look like i'm just using a snappy cheapo camera for it. something afforadable under $500 used would be great... canon rebel, maybe??? (isn't that also able to do 35mm?)

The Canon Rebel is either a 35mm camera or a digital camera. It does not do both (no camera does). I have a Rebel XTi, but it cost about $800 with the lens, and to be honest the lens isn't even that great. You will probably need to invest in multiple lenses if you want to have a successful business.

It's a nice camera though, and it definitely looks "professional" enough.

Childrens digital cameras?

Hello could someone please help me I'm looking at the childrens digital cameras and theres one made by fisherprice, one by V tech and another by little tykes was wondering if anyone has purchased any of these and what are they like?

I gave my granddaughter the Fisher-Price Kid Tough camera last Christmas when she was 2 and a half. She loves it and takes good pics with it.
I looked at the others you mentioned and chose the F-P because it has two optical viewfinders, easier for her to look through, flash, and an LCD screen so she can see her photos. And because it looked tough, and it is. She dropped it on the hardwood floors many times and it still works like new. Oh yeah, it comes in pink too!
I'm sure you and the child will be happy with it.

What kind of professional digital camera should I get ?

am looking to buy a very good professional digital camera. I have been thinking of taking up photography as a hobby. Mostly photos of my childrens lives, family events, etc. Yet I have no clue as to what kind of camera is best for what I want to do. I was thinking of going for Nikon, Cannon or possibly a Sony one. I am also looking to spend between $500 - $700. I want it to be versatile and durable, because I am not sure if I will be able to afford another one any time soon. Thanks in advance.

The marketplace calls "professional'"cameras something different - you want what they would call an entry level or enthusiast d-slr (a digital camera that you can exchange lenses and other parts) or a "superzoom."

The problem with all the slr's is that they look "pro," meaning big, not something you can put in even a large jacket pocket. Olympus, another company, makes the smallest quality one available, but Canon, Nikon, and Sony all make excellent quality cameras too.

Here are a couple of links to facts on these kinds of cameras.

If you are looking to spend $500-$700 and not spend anymore, get a good superzoom. It is almost as good as an slr plus a couple of interchangeable lenses in most situation and everything is "all-in-one".

If $500-$700 is to buy the foundation of a photographic system that you will continue to invest in, get an slr. like on of these:

Olympus 510 or 520

Canon XSI or XS (wait a couple months, the price will drop on the XS)

Sony 300 or 350 (a little bigger than the others but a cool flip out screen that's great for catching kids without them realizing they are being photographed).

Make sure the camera has Image Stabilization or Shake Reduction (same thing). It will give you many more non-blurry pictures, automatically.

im looking to but a digital slr camera?

i wanna take pictures inside, like my childrens volleyball and basketball game. What slr camera do you suggest for this?

Any digital or film SLR will do what you ask, as long as you have the right film and right lens, or right ISO setting and the right lens.

Let's start with the lens:
You want a 70-200mm or 80-200mm f/2.8 lens. The f/2.8 means that it has an aperture that will let in a lot of light. That's important for shooting indoors, especially indoor action. Coupled with a high ISO, you'll get shutter speeds that can stop action.

Next, let's look at the ISO settings:
Low light means you need to get high ISO film which is more sensitive to light (you'll get more grain to get more sensitivity) or you need to set the sensor ISO higher to get it more sensitive to light. I suggest ISO 800, or, if it's really dim ISO 1600.

Finally, let's look at the camera:
Film SLR cameras: any film SLR with the right film and right lens will meter and take good photos, although you'll get grain because of the fast film.

Digital SLRs: Let's stick to the low end: Canon, I suggest the Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi also called the Canon 400D. For Nikon, a used D50 or a new D80. The D40 and D40x are cheaper, but you can't use a lot of the older Nikon lenses with them for autofocusing, so you'll end up spending more money to get a newer 70-200mm f/2.8 AF-S lens than if you got a D80 and a used 80-200mm AF-D f/2.8 lens. A used D50 is the perfect compromise, which is why they've held their value used.

For Pentax, at the low end, try the K100D.

  • Kids' Christmas wish lists shorten in hard times

Christmas budgets were stretched thinner this year compared to others for Martha Canales, but the grandmother of six was determined to make the most of it.

Santa arrived early this year for her grandchildren and others who attended VFW Post 6378’s annual children’s Christmas party Saturday.

Canales’ grandchildren, ranging in ages 5 to 9, knew times were tough this year, and asked to forgo presents, Canales said. She is the children’s caretaker.

“We’ve talked about how things are going to have to be simpler this year,” Canales said. “They’re not thinking about getting gifts. They’re thinking about how they can give back.”

Saturday’s party was a chance for her grandchildren to enjoy the holiday spirit. Everyone received a stuffed animal, wrapped present and candy.

A majority of children still are asking for expensive presents this Christmas, despite the national economic crunch, Danny Richards, the post’s quartermaster, said.
