All i asked was for tips, can you offer any since that's your field. and about the lens and about the sun, can you answer those questions, not if am right for the job. Thanks...and i did check out that site...
Go for it, only way to get your feet wet.
As someone mentioned, watch out for the shadows and be aware of the sun's location when taking your photos. The sun may give you some lighting and shadow problems, be prepared for it. The lenses you mentioned is adequate for most of your shots. You might want to consider a 28-200 f/3.5 lens to give yourself more distance capability.
Make sure you discuss what photos will be taken with the bride or groom and the family memebers. This will give you time to find a good location and set-up to take these photos.
Make sure you have a good source of batteries for your flash and several 4GB or 8GB memory cards. You don't want to miss any shots.
I would highly recommend Gary Fong's lightshpere will give you brighter and softer lighting with your flash. You could also consider using the custom flash mode on your camera. Practice using this feature and it will help make your shots look better.
Suggest you take as many shot you think you need. You can always go back and sort out the good ones you want to present your clients. Or you might want to leave it up to the clients to pick the ones they want to keep. In your contract you determine how many frames they can keep for their photo-album. The rest you archive for your records.
The more weddings you shoot the better you will get at it and then you will know what you can provide your clients for their wedding package for the price you suggest.
The last wedding I shot for a friend, I took over a thousand frame in less than 5 hours. I let them choose the frames they wanted to keep.
