Use Average amount for picture purchaces also. Ii know that is relevant.
It depends on the package you buy. There is a lot of variance. I don't know if they are still in business, but 3 years ago we got a great price and excellent work from a video company Hill Productions 727-481-4966. They were hundreds less than others and did a wonderful video.

Getting married this summer, and have a few appointments this weekend with some photographers, and was curious what the average price everyone pays for this stuff is.
Thanks!
Just wanted to add, the photographer we really want is about $3000, but a few people told me thats outragious. Wasnt sure if thats the case or not. Also, live in the Portland, OR area.
It will vary greatly depending on the cost of living where you are. (Photographers have a mortgage and taxes just like everyone else) Our packages start at $1200 and go up to $5000. And, yes, I know it seems like a lot of money for what, at first, appears to be one day's work. But! I'd like to point out that the photographer's job is NOT done when you guys climb into your limo to drive away. Not only does he have to pay for his equipment, there's the cost of film and developing. Portra film isn't cheap, and a custom lab doesn't do his rolls in an hour for $7.00 each. If you ordered an album, those cost money- an Art Leather album can easily be $1000.
And while I'm defending photographers, I'd like to point out that after the honeymoon's over, your images are your first family heirloom- your picture are the first material thing you'd save if your house were on fire...
You won't have the wedding cake in an hour.
You won't own the reception hall after the night.
You don't get to keep the limo.
If you're like the rest of us, the wedding dress shrinks.
But your pictures...those are your memories....your moments.
Find a photographer you like- and your pictures won't be a "commodity"....and the bill...it won't hurt so much.
Best of luck!
Part 2- if a person (myself) wanted to do some side work as a wedding photographer... what should I expect? Free intern like experiences, or $50-$85 tip for the day?
Actually you can go to school for photography. Some of the best schools are on line school. After wards then you might do a internship, depends on the agreement you make with your hiring photographer.
The easiest way to find out what type of fees are excepted for photography in your area, is to look up photographers online in your are. They normally have prices and their packages all listed.
Good Luck!

I don't know about the pricing there, or what the currency is like. But around here, you pay anywhere from $1,500 to $4,000 for a good photographer. But if you don't plan on putting your wedding pics out on display, then don't pay so much money.
I was just wondering what I should charge a friend of mines sister to photograph her wedding. I have gone to school for photography and have worked at sports photo places and the most I have made there was 14. Now I think I should charge somewhere around there but honestly I really don't know and I was wondering if you guys might be able to help me out. I have looked online and I only can really get an average yearly salary for wedding photographers.
Wedding photographers charge by the event, not the hour.
My wedding photographer had shot professionally for ten years, but mine was only her fourth wedding. Her experience as a pro combined with her inexperience at weddings led to a price of $750 for the day.
This included:
* Four scheduled hours of work (though she showed up early and also toured the venue with me the day before, so it's more like six hours total).
* Light editing of all pictures (color, contrast, removing any photos that had come out badly) and burning them to CD. This CD also came with copyright release, so I could print the photos legally. Most photographers charge maybe $250 for the copyright-released CD alone.
* No prints
You seem less experienced than my photographer was, so if I were you, I'd charge $500 for the above.
The high yearly saleries and $2000/gig prices are reserved for professional photographers who have lots of experience with weddings. If your sister's friend is going to you, it's because she can't afford them.
FAQ: What should I do to become a full-time photographer? (or, “10 ...
The following is catered towards wedding photography, mainly because of all the photography industries out there, it’s most feasible to make a living shooting weddings. There are definitely those who are financially successful doing commercial, fine art, or landscape work. But the truth is, they are few and far between.
In addition, I will be making some generalizations based on my experiences and my knowledge of the industry. Like everything else in life, there are exceptions to the norm.
1. Running a photography business has little to do with photography. If you think you should go pro just because you love photography and friends say good things about your pictures, think again. Being a photography professional has little to do with actual photography. Sure, you’ll shoot your weddings on the weekends, and there’s always editing to do. But ever consider how much of your life you’re going to end up devoting to emails, contracts, client meetings, advertising, troubleshooting, networking, researching? You are the human resources, IT, admin, marketing, sales, and accounting departments all wrapped up in one. And those responsibilities can be a rather significant part of your job. How much experience have you had running a business?
