Any advice please for wedding photography.?

Ok, here is the thing. I like photography as a hobby, people tell me that i take good photographs, I read magazines and I took a course in black and white photography at my local community college, I`m not a professional photographer. A girl that I know is getting married in 3 weeks and she wants me to take the pictures at her wedding, but I never took pictures of weddings before, I told her that should be a for a professional, but she can`t find one, at her price range I think, she does not care that I don`t have experience she says all she wants to have some photographs of her wedding she does not care if they are not taken by a professional. So what should I do? should I take the job? I think I wan to do it, and can you guys give me any pointers? My camera is a canon 40 D with the standard lens with a 28-135 lens, thanks.
Also should I shoot in JPEG or RAW?

He O has a valid point.

Don't do it. You will ruin the wedding memories and possibly lose a friend.

Photographing weddings is an art in itself, that fully includes the entire art of photography, plus much much more on top of that. Most professional photographers who have never shot a wedding will likely refuse to take up the responsibility without prior training/experience, let alone you, the amateur with a little idea of what you're getting into.

It's like asking a casual driver who drives to and from work every day in a family sedan to sit at a wheel of Formula-1 car and take up a spot in Grand Prix finals.

I could go on for a few pages here as to why you should not do it, how each moment is unique and happens only once, how you should be prepared to any unexpected situation, including all kind of accidents, like someone spilled a glass of champagne right on your lens or stepped on it, how you should be able to be in a few dozen right places in exactly right times during the course of a day, yet not to interfere with the ceremony, and on and on and on.... But I'd just say - stop right there. If you refuse - she may be mad at you for a few weeks, if you spoil her wedding memories - she's likely to remember it for a long long time!

photoshop effects for wedding photography?

I am looking for names of effects commonly used in wedding pictures such as black and white or sepia, etc. if you know a website that shows the names and examples that would be very helpful, thanks.

The actions package du jour among wedding photographers is Totally Rad Actions. You can't throw a rock without hitting a wedding photographer using some combination of these effects.

I generally go for a more natural look with less processing... More natural color or a simple B&W or duotone. However, if you're looking for special effects, TRA is what's popular right now.

Hi. I'm a professional photographer in New York City. Maybe more important, my daughter got married about a year and a half ago, and she and I "shopped" for her wedding photographer together, so I got a "Bride's Eye View" of what's important.

There are at least three big differences between the packages you are considering.

Number of hours. The smaller package specifies 5 hours of coverage. The second sounds like it is unlimited, from the time you are getting ready until you cut the cake at the reception. That could be 8, 10 or even 12 hours. So choose the package that really corresponds to your wedding day timetable. If you hire a photographer for 5 hours and keep him for 12 hours, you may wind up with huge overtime charges.

Number of photographers. Two photographers doesn't just mean more pictures, it means BETTER pictures. Both photographers can be shooting the same moment, but with different lenses, and from different places. That means that you will have great photographs of special moments - you walking down the aisle with your dad AND your husband seeing you coming AND your mom drying a tear as she reacts to this beautiful scene! One photographer, no matter how good he or she is, would have to choose which of those images to capture. Two photographers can get them all.

An album. You may have rights to print from a CD, but a professionally designed, printed, and bound album will be a treasure which will grow in value over the years. Unless you are a skilled professional graphic artist with excellent retouching and design skills, you probably won't be able to come close to the quality album that a professional can provide. Many brides who forego the album wind up years later with just a shoebox full of unretouched 4x6 drugstore prints to show people one of the most important days of her life. That's sad.

In addition to these three major differences, there are lots of "extras" with the upgraded package, such as the DVD set to music. This is a great way to enjoy and share your wedding pictures.

When my daughter and I chose a wedding photography package we went for the option that is close to the $2,800 package you are considering. Yes, it hurt a little to spend the extra. But we are both very pleased that we invested the additional money.

If you can afford it, go for the quality.

Would you use color or black white photos for a candlelit renewal of vows? ?

Well, hubby told me today he wants candle light, romance, and soft music for our renewal of vows! OK.. He finally gave me something to work with. So when we were talking about photography, I couldn't find to many color photos with candle light in the background on the internet.

To those of you who had an evening wedding or get together. Did you go with color or black and white photos to mark your special event?

I would actually go with both if at all possible. Gives you a variety and both are very nice!

I want to create a catchy business name for photography?

I have just started with modest equipment shooting weddings that are looking for something different than the usual. I have also done some portraits. As a student, (always a student) I took pictures of lots of landscapes, pets, especially old farm equipment and barnes. Any help would be appreciated. I have done a significant amount of work in my black and white dark room. I also have two digital cameras as well. I am not looking for strictly wedding photography.
