I am looking to start a freelance photo editing business specializing in the bridal industry. I currently work at a bridal studio doing photo editing work.

My guess is that if the client own the rights to the photos, that I am free to edit them, however, if the photographer owns full rights, then I am not allowed to take the photos and edit them for the client...correct?

Any insight would be appreciated. I have already gotten responses from couples looking for my services, so if anything, they should be clear on who owns the rights and what they are allowed to do with the photos.

I don't want to get into a legal mess with this, so any advice would be appreciated.

The photography owns the copyright to the photographs unless they specifically sign that over to the client or someone else.
Therefore if you wanted to do any editing on any photos you would need their permission.

Photographers in the past would never sign over copyright to the client but these days with the advent of digital and a bunch of no-nothing amateurs and hobbyists entering the market then it is becoming pretty normal to see photographs granting all rights and even signing over copyright to the client for a couple of quid.

If someone other than the photographer wants work done then you need to ensure that they have, in writing, permission from the copyright holder or a contract in their possession which shows that usage rights or copyright has been given to them.
Without this you should NOT carry out any work on photographs bought in by a customer if they look "professional".

we would like to have our wedding photos by professional. we wonder if the bridal house/ studios in uk provides not only professional photography but do they also provide gowns & suits to make - ups and hair - dos?

Contact a local UK wedding planner or consultant. They typically have referrals of all of the most reputable service providers in the area.

I'm getting married in a couple of weeks. Last week I had my formal bridal pictures done in the studio. As a surprise, I had a a series of sexy boudoir pictures done. I wore my bridal lingerie, some of the bikinis I was going to wear on our honeymoon and finally some topless and nude (although not x). I like the pictures and even though my soon to be husband has taken pictures of me, I like the studio quality of these. After having this done, my husband has said some things that has led me to believe he may not appreciate them like I thought. I'm afraid when he sees that I've been naked in front of another man he'll consider it cheating. Especially since he'll see the photographer at the wedding. Should I hide the pictures and never speak of them again or should I confess?

He's a guy. He'll love them, and love your confidence.

You did them for him, the photographer was a professional, not someone you're sleeping with. Would he consider you going to a male gynecologist cheating? Again, professional/client relationship.
