You should go to www.ppa.com and search your area for a wedding photog. This is the Profession Photographers Association and that is a good place to start. Then check out their web sites. Any photog worth their salt these days will have a website. Narrow it down to the ones you like, call their studios and schedule a consultation. If you like their work you see on the web site and in the studio then it will boil down to three things. Is the date available; will you get everything for your budget for what the photog charges and then last, and maybe one of the most important; do you like the photog. Do you gel. Do you have a sense of trust and find the photog fun to ge with. You will be spending the better part of the day with the photographer so you need to make sure you do feel rubbed the wrong way with them.
Feel free to email me any questions you have and I'll try to direct you in your search!

Yesterday (Doing Wedding in Detroit) outside of the church were wild men with guns threatening each other over turf for drug use/sell or whatever. Then we went to a park for pictures and there was a gun battle going on. (Between three men...Over drugs of course) They saw the wedding party and left but one approached and wanted protection money. ("Give me money or we smoke you" or words to that effect) Some in the wedding party had guns so the fight was on. However, no shots were fired. (Note: The Police never came.....Too scared?) Then six desperate men with hammers tried to break our car windows to see what they could get. (Detroit is a mad place to be....Full of crime big time) Again some in our wedding party pulled guns and threaten to kill them. After we got all the pictures we left for the reception hall in a safe city. Now, next week I have a wedding in a part of the city of Detroit that makes Iraq look safe. (And I only charge 900 dollars this time of year) Am I doomed to die?
Might not be a great idea to look down your nose at clients, if they hired you and are paying you, you ought to show them some respect. You probably drive off to your suburb gated community after the shoot. If your that uncomfortable with interacting with poor people, perhaps you should market your 'skill' to someone you deem more worthy, that is if you can compete in the rich folks market.
I've seen three similar questions from you, and I find them, well, WEAK. Give it a rest...
My wedding is in Detroit on August 16, 2008 and my guest list 125 people. My budget for the whole wedding is $ 5000
I am available, please visit my website listed below.
VERY REASONABLE AND AFFORDABLE PRICES
http://awilliamsphotography.tripod.com/ - this was my wedding photographer. Great job, tons of photos, great personality and reasonably priced.
http://marchioricatering.com/ - this was my caterer. Honestly, the best wedding food I have ever tasted. We got a ton of compliments.
Our DJ was Music Box productions. They also did a great job....they were a little pricey but sent two people and got the crowd going.
Good luck.

Thanks for visiting the blog of STUDIO6.23 , a.k.a. ben and mindy peterson.
this is our wall for posting favorite pics from recent weddings or kid sessions. but somehow, a bunch of other randomness finds its way here as well.
we got married in 2000. makes it simple math to remember how long we’ve been married. and we’re crazy about our three kids.
i guess that’s why we shoot weddings and kids. it’s what we know — and love!
