Documentary Wedding Photographer

Do you have any recommendations for a natural style, documentary style wedding photographer in Buenos Aires, Argentina?

Most seem to be very old style and I am looking for initmate and relaxed.

Are a couple meant to go together and choose a photographer?

I had an argument with my fiance over the phone - he bought the the subject up about the photographer that he wants to go ahead with. He asked for the ring back - and said not to marry him then since i wasn't happy with his choice. I am not talking to him after what he said.

This photographer is a documentary photographer, she does not take photographs of weddings that often and is asking for far too much money! When a professional wedding photographer ask for the same amount and even less. I have been doing research on wedding photographers and i can see that her photographs are ordinary to what i have seen. Others are more graphically minded.

My fiance said that he did not want a photographer to start with and that he is getting one for me. It is standard these days to have a photographer and a videographer.

What can i do to settle this argument?
I am so happy with the videographer that he chose and along with the car people.
She is charging almost $3000 just to take photographs, correct them and give them to us on a disk - not album nothing.

Seen other packages for $3000 and they give you a small album and the photographs.
Am i asking for too much??

just talk with him about the cost.. show him what you have looked up. tell him that you aren't mad at him for making a choice but the person he chose is charging more than what a normal one charges. tell him that you could use his choice to do video and your choice as the photographer.

I want the candid style wedding photography. Which photographers are known for doing this?

Good info from Shira, but I think you will find most all pro wedding photographers use this style now. With the advent of digital, photographers are not limited on how many photos they can shoot, so that frees them up to do much more than just stale, posed shots.

I believe you will find it much harder to find someone who does NOT do "photo-journalistic" style wedding photography instead of someone who does.

Getting married this year and i wanted to get a professional wedding photographer - but finace was recommended a photographer from a university that takes photographs for documentaries and books. She has only done a couple of weddings. Did not get to see all her work, but i was not impressed.

Would you go ahead with this lady, or go for a professional that is only involved in wedding photography.
Fiance said that he does not like photographers that boss people around and tell them what to do.

I think that you do need a professional to tell you how to pose and they know what looks good.
She is not a student. She works at a university.

It depends on what your budget looks like. A professional photographer will run you thousands of dollars when all is said and done. A freelance/amateur photographer may be willing to do it for a couple hundred dollars. If you've got the money, go with the professional. If you don't, I'm sure the amateur photographer will work just as well for documenting the day. You're not likely to get big fancy portofolios with the amateur, but she's going to end up taking similar pictures. The only way I would 100% recommend going professional would be if you're having an outdoor wedding. Special equipment is needed to get the lighting right.
