I want the candid style wedding photography. Which photographers are known for doing this?
Good info from Shira, but I think you will find most all pro wedding photographers use this style now. With the advent of digital, photographers are not limited on how many photos they can shoot, so that frees them up to do much more than just stale, posed shots.
I believe you will find it much harder to find someone who does NOT do "photo-journalistic" style wedding photography instead of someone who does.

I have photographed a couple of wedddings in an informal documentary manner. I have been asked to do a friends and wondered what extra equipment would be beneficial for some good wedding shots. I have previously used 35mm film Olympus and Canon cameras.

(Equipment other than tripod/flash/batteries please!)
A digital SLR with a good lens.
Take loads of photo's and do a check straight away to see if you like them.
It is very difficult and expensive to get a wedding party back together for a re-shoot if you mess up.
Do you have any recommendations for a natural style, documentary style wedding photographer in Buenos Aires, Argentina?
Most seem to be very old style and I am looking for initmate and relaxed.
Thanks
Sorry, I don't know of anyone there. If all else fails, I am available for destination weddings!
Hiya, as above im soon required as the photographer at a wedding (although still a slight amateur). I recently bought a USM 50mm Canon lens, which I totally love. As this is a very small range lens im not sure that it will be sufficient, more useful as a single portraiture headshot lens. Would it work at a wedding? If so, what setting should I use to increase the depth of field and allow it to focus on more than one person? At the moment, it gives such such sharp images of a foreground person/shape, but blurs the background. could I incorporate background and foreground with this lens, if so how?
Sorry for a ramble. What other lens would be suitable for shooting at a wedding, in the new type of reportage/documentary style?
Any other info on wedding shooting or general info would be very appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Talia x

Documentary Wedding Photography by Simon Atkins: No pressure on me!
On Saturday I had the pleasure of photographing Peter & John's civil partnership in London. The couple had kept rather quiet about who photographed the pre partnership portrait that was on display. It was in fact taken by Lord Snowdon, a friend of Peter & John. Lord Snowdon is a very famous photographer and considered by many as one of the great photographers of the 20th century.
