Businesslike attire... nice dress pants, collar shirt, and flat shoes. I won't wear a skirt because I like to be able to move around comfortably, and there are situations where it's best to be above the subject, standing on a chair, etc.

Now that I've got your attention, I have an honest question (mainly for the guys, but hopefully the ladies can offer some insight. I'm a wedding photographer. During last weekend, I was filming the bridal party getting ready. The bride is still in her PJ's and just finished her makeup, and I've got my back to her while I'm getting MOB talking with the Grandma. I turn back around to get the bride, and BOOM! The bride is standing there just wearing just her lace bra and panties. Immediately drop my camera down, and do a 180. Bride laughs and says, "It's fine"... That's right, she said IT's FINE??I kept my back to her, and just said, "I'll be out here in the living room. Just let me know when you're zipping the dress." I was really embarrased I had a hard time making eye contact with the bride the rest of the night. I mean, the scenery was pleasent to the eyes, but I just felt uncomfortable. The bride is a famous fashion model, so she is used to having people look at her with little clothes on...

But this leads me to the question: Have any of you been in this situation? Obviously, if I had known she was about to drop trow, I would have quietly left the room. But I wasn't expecting her to just strip in the middle of the room! When she said "It's fine" did she actually expect me to continue rolling?
For the women: Shouldn't I have gotten some warning? Should I have send a female photographer?
Any input/tasteless jokes/comments/making fun of me greatly appreciated!!!

I am a woman and a wedding photographer and I would say that more often than not the bride just strips without any warning. She has probably already been seen in her underwear by everyone in the room before....besides the photographer hopefully. But I would just say that it shows me you were doing something right. The bride should hardly even notice you're there. I always like it when they go about their day without always trying to pose or smile for the camera. You get much better candids that way.

i was planning on wearing a black and white shirt with a black dress blouse. i've heard before that you arnt suppose to wear black to a wedding, but im not attending the wedding, i am being hired. do you think it would be appropriate to wear this? this is my first wedding that i will be the photographer so i dont really know whats ok and whats not.

As a photographer you want to blend in to get the most natural shots. Honestly wearing black is a good choice-- to other events. At a wedding, people will think "black clothes... camera... ITS THE PHOTOGRAPHER! Smile!! Look pleased!!" It won't be natural...

well that's very specific! Why does it have to be a female? And why Arab? You might be able to post a wanted ad in a newspaper or website. I suppose if you don't mind sounding rude you can just call a bunch of wedding photographers and ask if they have a staff member that will fit your requirements; you might get sworn at quite a lot though.
