Professional Wedding Photographer How do you proof your shoot?
groom and bride in mexican traditional folkloric costume

Hello there. This is for all the Professional Wedding Photographers out there. How do you offer proofs to the couple? I personally was going a book of 4x6 prints, but I'm not feelin this. I saw the new Proof DVD coming out, but its $30.00 our cost. Any suggestions? if you make a proof, how do you do it. Whats the best way in photoshop to copyright your photos? How tacky is it to make proof sheets in photoshop and present it to your couple that way? I see a couple people doing this. I want it to look professional

Putting a watermark or tect with your name across it will help to protect them from making their own pics without paying you. It's ok to do this on a CD or DVD, just make the pics low resolution so if they try to print them, they get poor quality and will have to order them from you.

I like using the program Pro Show Gold 3.0 to put all the pics in a lside show. Sometimes if I think the people are computer savy I will make save it as a Flash file instead of an MPEG for them to view it.

If you're worried about having to inprint all those photos, just create an action to do it for you and it will take care of all of them for you.

How much does a professional wedding photographer cost?
muchas gracias a todos nuestros clientes a traves de tantos años.

I am getting married next year, and having a low key-ish wedding, but i want to have a Professional to take pictures on the day.

Hi Tam,

I am a pro photographer from Perth. You can almost pay anything you want these days. I break photographers into 3 categories.

1: Backyarders: These guys have full time jobs but have a nice camera and shoot weddings for fun. Price $500-$1200 ish

2, Semi pros: People just starting out in the industry, or happy to provide weddings cheaply $1000 up

3, Full time pros, $1500 up, We are full time often with studios or office, have large overheads and much more expensive equipment, usually $20K +.

To give you an example our starter package is $1650 Australian Dollars without an album, add in an album and package two is $3100, add in reception coverage and a second photographer and package 3 is $4000.

Take a look at our website below if you are interested. I guess the main thing to keep in mind is you are hiring a professional artist so you must like their style as that is what they will be creating for you. But I think there is one more important thing to consider, if you like their work do you like them? The photographer will usually spend 5 hours plus with you on the day so you want someone who is going to make you feel special and fit in with what you want not tell you what to do all the time, and just be looking to finish the job and go home.

As I only got married 2 years ago myself I wish you both happiness as you plan for your special day. Remember its your day so don’t let people tell you what to do, or what they would do, you have the wedding you want.

Yours Nathan,

Will an Olympia camera be ok for this? It says its a professional camera but I don't know. Will it take professional shots?

It's an Olympia EL1124 Advanced Camera and it comes with a flash and everything.
Wow that's a great price fhotoace. And to think I was going to pay $100 for it from a guy on Craigslist.

I wonder what a viewfinder that wasn't in color would be like.
Yeah, now I just need to find a pink one huh?

That camera is good enough, the marriage isn't likely to last anyway so it won't matter after the divorce if the wedding pictures suck. It comes with a flash which many "professional" cameras don't, my brother just wasted a lot of money on a Nikon D3 which doesn't come with a flash so I think you're getting the better deal. A color viewfinder isn't necessary for real photographers so don't waste your money on such frivolous things, if you can get that camera for $100 or less I would grab it. It's not easy to find such a high end camera like that one for such a good price. I wish I had the money to buy that camera when I started shooting weddings, I spent a little less and got this one.

As a professional Wedding Photographer, do u allow other people to take pictures when you pose groups?
groom and bride in mexican traditional folkloric costume

Example you pose the bride and groom and the bridal party, do you allow their friends to take pictures of them then? some of them are looking into your camera, some into the friends camera, and everybody is looking elsewhere. AND isn't that almost like copying your Professional prints?? when they shoot with their own digital cameras?
no but still they are steeling my posing ideas ....?

When I do weddings - no. It's clearly stated in most pro contracts that nobody but the hired pro can photograph scenes they've set up. It takes up time for the bride & groom and in general just annoys the pro. A good pro can setup and snap off their posed shots in a fairly short period of time, but if you've got grandma and all the cousins behind you wanting shots too it takes FOREVER. Besides issues with couples looking everywhere BUT at the guy they hired to do the job.

I have known pros who have walked out if it becomes too much of an issue, and since it's in their contract it's perfectly within their right to do so. Needless to say, the couples aren't real happy with their families at that point since they didn't get the photos they paid dearly for, AND they still owe the pro whatever is left on their balance.

You can do as you wish, but I'd discourage allowing this. Of course, I use optical slaves for just this reason - even if somebody does sneak up and shoot my scene, it looks like crap because my big strobes fired and their little P&S couldn't expect that.

Other issues for the pro include the fact that if granny got a shot close enough to yours, guess who's not getting that extra sale? You!

I have a Canon 20D I need a Backup/2nd what about a Rebel XT? Professional Wedding Photographer?
weddings quinceaneras sweet sixteen bar bat mitzvah san jose santa clara san francisco california villablanca digital photography hd videography

I am a professional Photographer... with that in mind... I'm also the cheapest person you could meet I'm all about a sale. I was looking for a 20d or 30d body on ebay. I have the lenses, but need another body so I can have one reg and one telephoto for a wedding. I was looking at a rebel xt... I found one 250 NEW! Thats WAY cheap. I think its the same card as the 20d just not the heavy duty body. should I go for this or save and get a 30d? and use the 20d backup... Remember I'm cheap... Ok Flash Also... I was looking at a Speedlite 430 ex for 214 new? That a good one for weddings? I have a sunpac, but its meter is way off and its starting to blow everythign out for no reason. I had it turned all the way down.
www.LyndseyRoberts.com
I do have other bodies, but I'm actually having to run two teams double booking weddings. We're really busy and I was looking for a good alternative to forking out 2,500 for a temp back up.

I got myself a Canon XTi 2 months ago (w/Tamron 18-250 lens) and love it, it's my first DSLR. The 8MP XT was a second runner up but I ended up with the XTi.

Check out reviews & demos and some great prices at www.bhphotovideo.com I have been doing business with them for more then 25 years.

NOTE: Right now I am using the XTi with my Metz CT60-4 but next month I'll be getting the NEW Canon 580 EX II.

  • Buy Cheap

  • Do you ever wish you could hire professional wedding photography ...

I am not religious but I think jesus visited me today and granted me permission to get into professional wedding photography . It is definitely a calling. I know there are many people offering photography and wedding services but there is always room for one more right… There is no reason why we can’t all have our own businesses. It is a big world and there is always a demand for a good or service. The only way to be these days is your own boss. I could have chosen to open a sandwich shop but photography just leaps out at me as being the love of my life. This all sounds really silly now so I am going to go for a bath and then take some more photographs and maybe arrange some wedding for the summer next year.
