Professional Wedding Photography

I've been a photographer for some years, but only nature/wildlife, with a little bit of street.

I was wondering, what is the best way to get into the wedding photography business?

Also, does it make a difference that I use film, not digital?
I'm not new to film or photography, I've got it all down and I'm used to my main three cameras, and know everything there is to know about these specific cameras, and how to get good tones and shots from them.

I know everyone has a preference and it also depends on how one uses a camera but just technologically speaking, what is the top, most used digital camera right now by professional wedding photographers and possibly why?

I know Canon and Nikon are the most used, I am looking for an answer with a specific model. Like Nikon D3 or something like that. Something used by professional wedding photographers

Personally, I use Canon 40D and 5DMkII. Its Canon V Nikon really (a bit like PC V Mac). Both will get the job done and it comes down to personal preference.

Though, more important than the camera itself is:

1. The lenses. A poor quality lens on the best camera will result in a poor image.
2. The ability of the photographer. As stated, all the best gear in the world cant make a bad photo a good one.

I'm an amateur wedding photographer, and I've seen some photography where the images are so clear and crisp. How do I achieve something like that?
Is it the camera type? The ISO? Lighting?

I just check your portfolio... your pictures have terrible quality... You have some nice ideas for wedding photos, pictures are not bad, I would say much better than most of the wedding "photographers" (read money makers) I know... but you MUST start thinking about better equipment... pentax is not a equipment for you.. you need better camera, and better lenses... camera for start: even one of the cheaper canon brand Rebel XTI or XTS but lenses only Top Shelf Lseries... I know its not cheap but wedding photographer making good money so let call this investment :) than you`ll have better quality pictures, and start shoot in RAW and than process them to JPG....

Hi guys, I'm going to hong kong in August. My sister went right after she got married and had her wedding photos taken there. The photography place provided attire for the bride and groom and also a beautiful setting. My sister looked so pretty. I'm going for 9 days and I really want to take those pictures with my husband (we're newly weds). I don't know if my sister is playing dumb or she really don't remember anything. If anyone can recommend or have information on a particular professional photography place that'll be nice. Like I said, I'm only staying for 9 days and I know that should be the first thing to do when I get there. Please help!!!! Thanks.

for a backup camera?

Maybe.

If all of your lenses are AF-S then perhaps you would be able to get away with it.


A better choice might be a D80 or D90. (It's best to avoid toy cameras in professional situations.)
