digital or film? reportage or posed? digital photo books or traditional albums? how long should the photographer stay?
err maybe i should clarify that im a bride to be who is confused about the whole photography thing. though doing research myself i am interested in what other people think. i live in the uk and i consider myself a nice person but thanks for the rude comment it made me chuckle!
When picking a photographer you need to consider all of the things you mentioned like what format they use (digital, 35mm, medium), style (formal, candid), whether you like how they feature the pictures in an album, what all is included in your package (proofs, parent albums, number of reprints), whether they bring backdrops for family portraits (if that's something that interest you) are the photographers obtrusive or blend in, what is the typical attire of your photographer, do you get to choose your photographer in advance or is the photographer assigned to you based on availability, the number of photo locations, do they photograph preparations before the wedding (rehearsal dinner, getting dressed prior to the wedding), etc. The number of hours the photographer should stay is based on how long your wedding day will be and what you would like them to photograph. It could range from 2 hours to 12 hours depending on your package and needs.

I am a new wedding photographer and I am trying to find somewhere which will make up my clients wedding albums in a leather bound reportage/storybook style. I have seen some cheap versions on kodak and photobox, but was wondering if you could buy more luxury versions?
Iam a professional photographer and I use art leather albums. They have many to choose from. Here is the link....

You will have to register and they will send you a package and a cd and stuff but everything is on the website. You may e-mail me if you have any questions.
We are currently looking at photographers for our wedding. We're quite interested in the more modern, reportage-style photographs rather than formal shots.
Has anyone here had these sort of photgraphs taken at their weding? What did you think? Are there any circumstances where a more relaxed form of photography is not a good idea?
I can't believe I misspelt "wedding".
Hi Ruth.
In short, yes, my wife and I had reportage style photos taken at our weding, although the whole album was not of this style.
We opted for a photogpaher who could provide a nice combo of formal, candid and reportage photos in order to achieve a good balance to the album. That said, reportage is a style where you can get away with having the whole album that style should you choose.
In terms of times when relaxed images may not suit, the most obvious answer is when it comes to shots that other family members may want to hang on their wall or place in a photo frame on their mantelpiece. Whilst my wife and I have a lovely shot of us kissing on a bridge in black and white on the wall in our house (taken reportage style), both our sets of parents have ones of us standing alongside them (taken formal style). You will tend to find that 'older folk' prefer the more traditional style.
Before making the final decision on what style to go for and who to use, I would suggest doing a lot of shopping around and a fair bit of research - you will find that whilst some photogrpahers claim they can shoot 'reportage style' not all will be of the same standard. I have attached a link to a site that tells you what to look out for when choosing a wedding photographer and it may well be worth checking out prior to making the final decision.
By the way, just to make you feel better, you might want to check how I've spelt wedding in the first paragraph!
Hope this helps.
I am looking for someone who does good reportage photography in a storybook style, anyone I have found is more candid and i definitely do not want that. The wedding is in Airth Castle Hotel in Stirling.

I need a good photographer who won't charge me an arm and both legs who will shoot traditional and reportage. Any ideas?
I'm in central North Carolina. A former neighbor of mine has a degree in Photography and currently works for a magazine. You could contact her through myspace. http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fus eaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=16 937992
I would suggest looking in the Yellow Pages and start calling people. If you don't have a phonebook, most Yellow Pages are avaible online.

Capture Mood and Emotion with a Reportage Wedding Photographer
Capture Mood and Emotion with a Reportage Wedding Photographer
I am a reportage photographer and am frequently asked exactly what that means. Well, reportage photography is where the skill is to capture or report an event in a journalistic style, kind of like press photography. Events are captured in a way that tells a story instead of just taking random snapshots. Reportage photography is much more complex than just taking snaps. The photographer must be able to capture the mood and emotion in the pictures. A good example is that I specialize as a reportage wedding photographer . A wedding is an event where the client wants to capture and record the mood of the event in a very special way.
