Basically any unique, unusual, poses for wedding photos is what I am looking for. Any ideas/links to pics that have ideas?
Arrrgh!
The photographer who did my nephew's wedding used to have a website, and she had absolutely great photos on there. She took her website down about six months ago, and hasn't put it back up. She was getting too much work.
She had a lot of really cool stuff. Her specialty is black and white, and she did a lot of outdoor photos. I will briefly describe all of the ones she had on her site which have stuck in my mind. In all of them, the bride was in her gown and the groom was in his tux, and the majority were in black and white, or sepia. She also has a colorist who works for her and does hand-tinting of black and white, and that alone is very striking.
--Groom pushing the Bride, who is in a big old tire swing under a huge old tree
--Bride sitting sidesaddle in front of the Groom on horseback (that one was hand-tinted, and only the flowers and the trees in the background were colored)
--Bride and Groom sitting at a regular old coffee shop with regular people in it, surrounded by white packages with colored ribbons (again, B&W, with the ribbons hand tinted)
--Bride and Groom sitting in a tree kissing (I think that was a take on the children's rhyme about K-I-S-S-I-N-G)--they look very casual, with no shoes on, sort of like kids playing dress-up
--Bride and Groom at a formal table with crystal and china and silverware, with big huge burgers and fries on their plates, and sharing a milkshake with two straws
--Bride and Groom in a rowboat on a small lake--she's lying back on pillows, and he's rowing (his jacket is off, and his sleeves are rolled up)--that one was in color, and was beautiful because it was taken at sunset
--Bride and Groom in a studio setting where all the furniture was borrowed props and is really random--the background was part brick wall and part stage scenery--that was in color, too
--Bride and Groom jumping on a trampoline holding hands--she got them when they were in the air, laughing and looking at each other
--Bride and Groom lying on their backs in a field of wildflowers--that one was taken from above, and the caption said she had to borrow a truck with a cherry picker on it so she could get above them for the picture--her assistant colored all the flowers by hand!
--Bride and Groom in their clothes but with goggles, snorkels, and flippers on
--Bride and Groom dancing (looks like waltzing) in the middle of a busy intersection--they were completely hand colored, and everything else was B&W
--She also had a lot which were pretty much the same format, with just the props changing--it was the Bride and Groom sitting on the floor surrounded by various things--one was puppies, one was balloons, one was sports balls like soccer balls and basket balls and volleyballs, and there were others
--Bride and Groom at the Zoo--she's on the back of an elephant, and he's standing looking up and offering a flower
--Bride and Groom playing tennis, also one of a couple playing golf
--Bride and Groom with funny expressions on their faces, surrounded by wadded up wrapping paper and about 20 identical boxes of toasters
--Bride and Groom toasting each other with champagne on a sofa in a furniture store while people are shopping
--Bride and Groom jumping on a bed at, I think, IKEA
--Bride and Groom eating a long piece of licorice, with their noses almost touching--there was also one with the same couple in a candy store holding big jars of candy, and one with them blowing huge bubbles with bubble gum
--Bride and Groom in the remains of an old church, standing where the altar would have been, looking at each other and holding hands--that was in color and was really cool because there were shafts of light coming in the window and you could see the dust motes in the light
--Bride and Groom on a ferris wheel at a carnival at dusk, after all the lights had been turned on
She also had a whole assortment of more formal portaits, only in unusual places, like a couple who were both med students sitting on a gurney in an ER, a couple who were movie buffs at a theater with popcorn buckets, and a couple at a library with books stacked all around them.
I wish her site was still up. She was the best wedding photographer I have ever seen, and her actual photography skills were really great. She had a knack for getting just the right shot, but maybe that's because she shoots a minimum of three rolls of film for every shot she wants to get. Also, she said right on her website that other photographers were free to "borrow" the ideas used on her site, as long as they made small changes, because the people who didn't want someone borrowing their ideas didn't have their pictures posted on the site--you had to go to her studio and look at her portfolio to see them.
I hope some of those spark your imagination. I sure wish I had seen her site before I got married--my wedding photos are absolutely putrid. (In all fairness, she was in middle school when I got married...*sigh*...)
Gustav combines unique creativity with a contemporary insight. His artistic eye and raw talent come together to capture each breathless moment ...
I am doing some research on some fun, creative, and unique wedding photo poses that I can incorporate into my wedding photography...
About 75% of my photography is very spontaneous, especially ceremony and reception captures. But every couple wants those "posed" formal shots, and I am just looking for more fun ideas. Kind of a poll, so to speak, of fun things you all have thought of or had done.
Do any of you have any ideas? Links to pictures and/or image posts are VERY welcome.
I am just looking for some really original ideas. None of the stand smile click, but maybe some fun (groomsmen holding groom up), romantic (bride and groom looking into each others eyes), silly (bride and bridesmaides laying in the grass looking up at camera), etc. poses.
Thanks in advance for your ideas!!!!
Bride looking in a mirror putting on her veil. (side view).
Crossed hand over the marriage certificate (comes in handy when there is some question of when you were married, you can look at the photo innocently, rather than asking someone else).
bridesmaid one knee bent, "Punching" out her flowers at the photographer like a cheerleader. Individually shot, not as a group.
groom lifting the bride from the waist during a dance. Dangerous if groom is not fit.
Price: $39.95
Before and after sequences showing common problems and how to fix them. Using carful posing to flatter every figure type.
Understanding the goals of good posting and the most common obstables to success.
Styles of posing, from formal to casual. The critical differences between posing men and posing women.
I am interested in getting some ideas about different kinds of creative photography pics to take. (for instance, one I saw was a wedding dress on a railroad track) Anyway, anyone know of a book that might give me some creative ideas. thanks.

I am a wedding Photographer from the UK and I work for wedding elegance by national photographer.
I have always wanted to do a little more at weddings as people seem to catch just a small part of their wedding (the day its self) and miss ff all the planning and parties.
What I have done is offered a complete package that mixes photo and video, from the complete events.
with two photographers ( one male and one female) we cover the stag and hen nights ( with select images)
give posing lesions so that the photography on the day is easier and the couple look better.
we also cover the rehearsal, wedding day. receptions and first dance and some of the night.
I have been asked a few times by couple if I would come of honeymoon with them to shoot the romantic times and fun that they are having ( not the bedroom, but you know what I mean)
Do you think its a good idea to offer a complete package that covers everything?
I think that as my style of photography is unique to me, and that I can put together all the photos in to the albums as required and not have a mix. Also that honeymoon photos you would only really get one person from the couple in at any one time rather than them together doing things.
Have your say

The more you have available, the more customers will take you up on.
I even read an article in the New York times a while ago about people increasingly wanting every wedding moment captured and hiring photographers to be "waiting in the wings" during the proposal to get those perfect first reaction shots.
With the rise of social networking sites, people want to share more and more of their lives online, especially their wedding day. I think these packages could be really successful. I think it is a great idea, especially the posing lessons.
My husband and I recently started an event photography business...While we know all the "standard" photos everyone wants, and have a few creative ideas of our own, we are looking for fun and different ideas to expand our portfolio. Anyone have some really great shots from their wedding that were either posed or unposed in a unique or different way?
Thanks!

First off, I guess you are looking for constructive criticism. I had a look at your website. Make the "portfolio" on the main menu or first page, so people dont have to search for it. People look for examples of your work before they even look for your rates or what youre all about.
Also, I would focus more on photojournalistic styles. Brides put a lot of planning into their day, and they like to see elegant photos of the details of the wedding, as well as spontaneous photos of guests.

Plan Ahead Making sure you get perfect shots of everything the happy couple wants is easy if you make a plan and stick to it. Creating a checklist of every shot they want is the most important part of planning the photos. Once you have that checklist in hand, you can decide how to pose the people involved.
Meet as many people in the bridal party and the family ahead of time as possible, so that expectations are clear, and you also know if there are any odd requests, estranged family members who can’t be posed near each other, or if Uncle Jack is seven feet tall and best posed seated.
Your job is to take the bride’s vision of “perfect” photography and put it on film. Obviously, unless you know what her vision is, you can’t get this right. What does she consider perfect? Does she prefer casual, spontaneous, reportage or journalistic style, or formal traditional poses, or some combination of all of them? Have a discussion with her, show her samples, and let her show you some she’s found that she likes, so that everything between you is very clear.
