I want to see what the average is.
I didn't my SINCERE suggestion: get a friend good with computers to do it as a gift. Some people already have the programs or you can buy them for less than 50 bucks, a friend did ours and it came out SO GREAT! Otherwise it will cost you a bundle, I am guessing a few hundred was your quote from a professional.

We are having a photo slide show at the wedding of me and my fiance, but we are lost for background music. We need to pick out 2 songs. Any ideas?
Brown eyed girl for you (if the eye color is right), simple man for him, your my best friend (queen version) for photos of you both together.
I'm really good at drawing out the emotion from music and from pictures.. I know which pictures I want to use -which music - I just want to know which software to use. I could have it professionaly done if I wanted to - but I don't - I really want to do it myself so please just suggest a software nothing else.. Is Photoshop a good way to make one? What about Powerpoint? I've seen even commericials made from Powerpoint.. How do you change the format of a Powerpoint to flow together like the commericials? ( where I can just save it on a CD and not have to kill the moment by opening up Powerpoint and then pressing play, etc.)
Really? There's no way to make music throughout the whole PowerPoint??
Well I am a bit nervous to buy software I have never used before.. Especially one as expensive as Flash.. I have been playing around with this site for a while - and once I create something - I can even order it for DVD or download it to an ipod.. It lets you add music, transitions, and time how long you want each picture to last.. I can even put video in if I want.. What do you guys think? Professional enough? Any potential problems you see? THANKS

Photoshop is good for resizing and retouching your pictures before arranging them in a slideshow. You can't make a slideshow in Photoshop, though.
Power Point is not bad, and there's a way to save it like you want -- without having to open up Power Point and press play to show your pictures. You just choose "Power Point Show", not "Power Point Presentation", from the "Save as" menu. The extension of your saved file will be .pps.
Anyway, in Power Point you won't be able to have a background music for the whole show. You can add sound, but to each slide, one by one.
If you want to play your slideshow with a song in the background, I recommend you use Macromedia Flash. It's more complicated to figure out, but you'll get a more professional result.
Addition -- on the website your provided later:
If you are satisfied with the presentation you put together on that website, then go for it. After all, it's your wedding and you - and only you - are the one who must be happy! I think it's ok. I wonder if you can add your own music or you can just use one of their options though. If I were you, I'd still use Flash but if you have never used it, it will be really hard for you to obtain the result you want without help. Flash isn't easy to learn on your own. So, if you want to make your montage yourself, go with that website and order the DVD when you are done. It's still more professional looking than a Power Point presentation and you can have music all throughout it.
When is your wedding? If I'm not that busy in that period, I can help with Flash.
I'm trying to find a song that would go well with a collection of pictures from a man's childhood that will be featured in a slide show at his wedding. I have the bride's songs picked out: Wildflowers by Tom Petty/Dream by Priscilla Ahn. There may be another one, I have to consult with her again. Anyway, that may give you a clue about the kind of songs the couple likes to listen to. Other bands/artists they like are Dave Matthews Band, Simon and Garfunkel, Jason Mraz, Ben Harper, Blind Melon, Bob Dylan, Dispatch, Guster, Oasis, Phish, Sublime, Xavier Rudd, James Taylor, Ryan Adams, Jack Johnson, Willy Porter, Yonder Mountain String Band, Coldplay... It doesn't have to be from one of these artists, but maybe one similar to them with a fun tune to it.
Any ideas for music that could go with the groom's childhood? He's very outdoorsy and likes to go on adventures--maybe that helps. One of his songs is going to be "Walk Outside" by Dan Crow because it's from his favorite childhood movie
Maybe........ if he likes outdoors..... "Sittin on the Dock of the Bay" might be good.....
If I think of any others, I'll let you know.

We're thinking of doing a photo montage that would last 1-2 songs at our wedding reception- during or right after dinner. It would be pictures of us growing up and our friends that will be there at the reception. Have you see this done before? Did people enjoy it? We're having a small wedding and looking for a fun way to entertain without resorting to lame party games.
I recommend Photo Story Platinum which is easy to use yet creative software to turn photos and songs to stunning slideshow and share on YouTube, mobile devices or burn CD/DVDs.

Hope it helps.
