Hi, I'm getting married in Nov this year in Nottingham. I was told that most photographers charge over a grand to do photography. Can anyone suggest a good and professional but more affordable photographer in Nottingham. I have a part time job and my future husband doesn't earn a lot of money either and we simply can't afford to pay these crazy prices. Any suggestions will be very appreciated. Cheers
Hi, I can totally understand your situation. I'm a Nottingham based photographer and my prices start as low as £300! I also offer '28 days or Free' guarantee so at least you know you'll get the photos within 28 days after your wedding. On top of that you'll get a free interactive DVD with a slideshow and all the images on a disc. Please visit my wedding website at http://weddingphotographernottingham.me. uk for my portfolio, current prices, and wedding photography packages. You can also book online. Also know that 3% of every order is donated to a charity.

Have you posted this gig at a local art school?
Try the School of Art and Design at Nottingham Trent University ( http://www.ntu.ac.uk/art/ ). If they don't have a job board, you can always call the head of the photography department. A talented student, professor, or alumni can probably do your wedding at a nice price!
Your local newspaper may also be good source for professional photographers. If you want the photojournalist look (http://photographer.wordpress.com/ ), a flexible newspaper photographer might actually be a better fit than someone who only does weddings.
Professional photographers who don't specialize in weddings will often charge much less than those who do.
Just carefully scrutinize the portfolio of any potential photographer, whether s/he specializes in weddings or not. Especially pay attention to the use of natural lighting. Wedding photographers often have to judge lighting on the fly, as opposed to studio photographers who can control every fleck of light.
Also, be sure to talk with your photographer beforehand, to explain what you need. Print a wedding photo list ( http://www.tomellisphoto.com/photolist.h tm ), check off what you want, and hand it to him/her.
Also, decide whether you want your photographer to use digital or film. Digital is more convenient, with all your photos on one CD. But if you want black and white photos, real b&w film will get you better contrast.
If your photographer is talented enough and you can communicate well with him/her, you should get good results regardless of price.
To Pu55y Perfect: You hired an idiot who was not only unfamiliar with weddings, but too lazy to study wedding albums and/or ask you exactly what you wanted. You're fortunate that he was cheap; idiots can charge high prices too.
To CF: I've never heard of a hired photographer blocking the guests from using their own cameras. Mine certainly didn't.
To JSN: While photos from family and friends may be a good suppliment to a wedding album, they shouldn't be depended upon as its main source. Photography is a full-time job and it's difficult to juggle that with being a guest. The advantage of hiring a professional is that s/he can focus entirely on the photography.

This Blog is an archive of my personal and professional life, it features images from the weddings i shoot, the portraits i photograph and the friends and family that mean so much to me. It is in essence my own personnel photo album combined with an info source for my current and potential clients. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as i enjoy creating it...to view the iLife website, Nottingham Wedding Photographers This past weekend i had the great pleasure of shooting Alison and Jez's wedding at Hardwick hall, one of Derbyshires great wedding Venues . Alison was incredibly brave as it was blowing a gale and freezing cold but she really wanted to get some fab shots and wouldn't stop until we had them, just a few from the day below as we are having speed issues with the blog so there will be fewer pics per post until we have sorted the problem.
