Wedding Photo Contest - Help select best image to enter?
Recognized in the Details Category

I want to enter ONE of these 2 photos in a Wedding Photography contest - the criteria is "Dancing" - anything from the reception dance floor that illustrates the mood of a particular moment. Please select A or B - Thank you. http://www.everafterimages.com/contest/i ndex.htm
This is more about the reception, than dancing... dancing was the "title" but looking at past contests- very rarly did the winning photos show actual dancing...

You have stronger work than either of those two in your website. Don't you have any more dance shots? I particularly did not care for B.

A: The clarity of the photo alone is ten times better than B. And the characters in A plays three different parts, showing how fun each man was having.

In B: The man just looks like he's out of control and screaming... Looks like he's enjoying himself, yes, but seeing the male in the background, it doesn't look like anyone is enjoying him!! ha ha.

I think A is a much better pick :)

I agree with Blunt, and the others... No one is dancing, so I hope you have a better selection, but being a "reception" photo, I would still pick A.

If you didn't have alot of money to spend on photography at your wedding...?

would you hire a 16 year old to do it for just the cost it takes to print of the pictures (around 40$)
I have won contests in photography and have a good camara (Canon Rebel Xti SLR Digital)

If you're thinking of doing this as a type of business, I would suggest that you create a portfolio, and get references from people you've done pictures for.

Also, while it's nice that you don't want to charge people too much, I would still charge a bit for your time. Maybe an extra $10 or so.

If you can't get references from people you've done pics for before, at least get employment references about your responsibility and dependability (I believe someone did bring that point up for a reason against hiring a 16 year old).

Believe it or not, a lot of couples who are trying to cut costs are looking to photography students in highschools and colleges.

Just make a really nice portfolio, and be dependable, and you're set.

I'm actually looking at hiring a co-worker who does photography as a hobby.

Also, remember that you need to take a few thousand pictures at a wedding. There may only be a few dozen that turn out perfectly, but you need that variety, and only pick the best for the album. Remember to include the price of a nice album in your price, and offer to burn a disc of all photos taken.

Remember, too, to always bring lots of batteries, and some extra flash cards for storage.

Good luck!

Wedding Photography Ethics... two questions?
win your wedding photography

1) If you photograph a wedding, and then the couple gets divorced, is it ethical to still use their wedding photos in your portfolio?

2) There is an annual photo contest that I've been entering for years. I have an awesome photo from the wedding I wanted to enter... is that ethical? Even if the couple has divorced? (The photos will be on display at a local event).

Please, no snarky answers!
I guess you're right... legally it shouldn't be an issue. But i was just thinking more of morals and such. Thanks all.

Your portfolio is a representation of YOUR work, not the success of the marriage, advertising campaign or whatever else you have recorded. I do not think their is anything unethical about using examples of your work even if the marriage didn't work out.

If either party contacts you and asks you not to use the images I would explain to them that the work has value because it demonstrates your skills and ask them if they wish to buy the copyright from you. If they agree to buy the copyright then I would stop using the picture.

HTH.

what do you think, trash the dress!?

I saw a question about this earlier. that was the first I heard about it. I really like the idea. its basically getting pictures done after the wedding and reception when you are completely done using the dress but it ends up trashing the dress. like look at these pictures
Keep pushing the next button on the bottom right to see them all

I wanna do something like the 4th picture on there. what do you think?

It looks like ALOT of fun and very romantic. Im not planning on using the dress again or passing it down.
maybe a huge food fight!

I think the fourth picture is very pretty, but it's a little hard to tell that they're wearing wedding clothes. I like some of the others on the site. I saw one once where the couple (who had been married in the fall) were lying in a huge pile of leaves, throwing them at each other, etc. Also I've seen climbing trees photos, also gorgeous. I like the food fight idea too!!

Veronica K Photography - $300 - Nov. 12 - Design Contest Forums

My name is Veronica and I am a portrait photographer known for my fun, natural and artistic photography. I recently built a new boutique portrait studio which has a downtown loft feel. I focus on every customer's experience and want my brand to convey love in a simple but elegant way. My tagline is "picture love" and i am hoping to end up with a logo that will effectively show my business name of Veronica K Photography, but also my tagline of picture love. I do NOT want any type of camera or lens in the logo. It needs to have a feminine modern feel possibly incorporating some damask or filigree elements. I love sage green and chocolate brown. I like simple and clean lines without italicized font.
