I have a problem with my JUST bought Yashica 635.?

I have no idea how to operate it. I know that the shutter has something to do with one of the levers on the side, but when I pull it it doesn't fire. Does it require batteries anywhere inside of it? Will the shutter only work with film? Is my camera non-functional because it won't fire with the lens? Does anyone know where I can get a 35mm film adapter for it (if I can get it to work, of course)?

This is a link to a pdf file that you can download for the manual for this camera. As for a 35mm adapter, they are available. Try ebay.
