I have a yashica-c TLR camera, and the advance knob always used to stop at every frame. YEsterday, i switched to a new film (i dont know if that has to do with anything) but ever since i switched to kodak, the knob doesn't stop at every frame. does the knob need to be fixed? how does the stop-feature work? thanks
You need to go to www.markhama.com. Mark Hama worked on the production line for Yashica for years and then came to the US to train technicians on repair of Yashica's cameras.
If it is Yashica, he can fix it. I have known him for about 4 years or so.
A quick way to determine the value of almost anything is to use eBay advanced search option type in the item and select completes auctions.
A quick search here

revealed that they fetch roughly £100. to £180, don't forget that with eBay that's buying it sight unseen, condition is everything and a mint one in a specialist auction will probably double that. Note that specialist auctions will usually only accept perfect examples and their commission can be as high as 25%.

I saw said camera in a brocante for £55 and i was wondering if it would be worth buying. I've been looking for a rolleiflex for a while - is the Yashica just as good? (I'd be using it for art etc. not professionally)
thanks
The Yashica 44 takes 127 film rather than 120 film, which is tougher to find. If you don't mind that I'm sure it's a fine camera.
As with all things vintage, the usability will depend on the specific item. You may have a pristine example or a real dud. You won't know until you look at it.
Ive been looking at buying a TLR Seagull and was wondering if they have a decent light meter on them? and anything else someone could tell me about them would be very helpfull...would i be better off going on ebay and getting a yashica or mamiya?
Don't buy a Seagull, the build quality on these medium format TLR's are notoriously bad. You are much better off sticking to a Mamiya TLR or Rollei TLR rather than having to continually send the Seagull in for repairs.
As for the idea of buying a camera on Ebay it is sort of a crap shoot unless you are buying from a reputable seller. I would suggest you go to a good online used camera broker like KEH.com. They have lots of used mamiya tlr's for sale ranging in price from $95-$500
